Marlins | Two Miami OFs remain sidelined Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:08:32 -0700

Miami Marlins OFs Giancarlo Stanton (side) and Christian Yelich (back) remain out of the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Aaron Blair Saturday, May 28. OF Ichiro Suzuki will bat leadoff and play right field, while OF Cole Gillespie plays left field and bats seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton and Yelich are both considered day-to-day and could be used off the bench during this weekend's series but should be avoided in all fantasy formats as long as they aren't starting. Suzuki is hitting .407 (11-for-27) with two doubles and an RBI over the past week, while Gillespie is batting .313 (5-for-16) with a pair of doubles and four RBI over the same span. Both players are excellent sources of productive cap relief for daily fantasy contests.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich out

Fri, 27 May 2016 12:00:51 -0700

Miami Marlins OFs Giancarlo Stanton (side) and Christian Yelich (back) remain out of the starting lineup Friday, May 27. OF Ichiro Suzuki is playing right field and batting leadoff again, while OF Cole Gillespie is starting in left field and batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Williams Perez.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton and Yelich remain day-to-day, so keep tabs on their progress heading into weekend play. Suzuki has been hot this week and gains added short-term value hitting leadoff with both Yelich and Stanton out. He's a fine addition to daily lineups against Perez. Gillespie is more of a desperation daily flyer with justs six home runs in his six-year career.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton out Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 08:09:53 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (side) is out of the lineup again Thursday, May 26, after missing the previous game with soreness in his right side. OF Cole Gillespie is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough break for Stanton because he broke a slump with a home run the night before the soreness pulled him from the lineup. It's pretty telling that he has been held out two days in a row when the team has the designated hitter available in Tampa. Gillespie is hitting .154 with seven K's in 13 at-bats. He isn't a good option against Drew Smyly.

Marlins | Christian Yelich remains out

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:01:13 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich (back) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. OF Cole Gillespie is starting in left field and is batting eighth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese.

Fantasy Tip: Yelich remains day-to-day, but the longer his back remains an issue, the greater chances of him landing on the DL. Stay tuned for news on his progress. Gillespie has only eight at-bats this year and six total home runs in six years in the majors. He's a desperation pick in DFS play this evening.

Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki will not start

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 09:21:08 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, Sept. 6. OF Cole Gillespie will start in center field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) may be sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Gillespie ($2,700. 5.4% of cap) has three hits and three RBI over his last nine games and may not be a great option on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Cole Gillespie starting in RF

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 13:37:37 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie is starting in right field and hitting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP Manny Banuelos Tuesday, Sept. 1. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start on the bench against a lefty.

Fantasy Tip: Righty Miami sticks against Banuelos, who is returning from the DL tonight, could be sneaky plays on FantasyScore tonight. Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) qualifies, and he's hitting a cool .394/.432/.485 with a .917 OPS against left-handers this season.

Marlins | Cole Gillespie starting in center field

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 12:26:01 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie is starting in center field and batting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Monday, Aug. 31. OF Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting line Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ozuna ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He has shown flashes since being recalled from the minors Saturday, Aug. 15, but really it has been more of the same disappointment, as Ozuna owns a .237/.250/.475 slash line. Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has a .358/.414/.453 line over his past 58 plate appearances, so while he is in fine form, he is worth a look at FantasyScore as a low-priced flier.

Marlins | Cole Gillespie draws into lineup

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:09:18 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie is starting in right field and hitting leadoff against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Ichiro Suzuki has the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is a very nice choice for your daily lineups tonight against a left-hander, and you can't beat his price as a value play. Gillespie has a slash line of .448/.485/.552 with a 1.037 OPS against lefties this season. Hitting leadoff is the cherry on top.

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Sunday, Aug. 23. OF Cole Gillespie will start in right field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return soon. Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is batting .388 with six RBI this month and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 19:17:24 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Cole Gillespie (wrist) left in the sixth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, Aug. 21, after injuring his wrist.

Fantasy Tip: Gillespie ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting .319, and he has been a solid source of cap relief at FantasyScore since being given regular playing time. Make sure to check for updates on his wrist before using him at FantasyScore moving forward.
