Astros | Luis Valbuena not starting Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:59:12 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 30, against the Kansas City Royals. SS Marwin Gonzalez is playing third base.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is hitting .165-5-11 against left-handed pitchers, which likely merits his sitting down against a lefty. Gonzalez ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is .263-2-6 against lefties and makes for a better FantasyScore play.

Astros | Luis Valbuena in cleanup spot

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:07:40 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is hitting cleanup against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been an enigma this year for fantasy owners. He already has a career-high 19 home runs but is hitting only .201 (49-for-244). Valbuena is definitely risky, but there is upside against Warren, who has allowed eight home runs this year in 13 starts.

Astros | Luis Valbuena blasts two homers

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 04:38:02 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena hit two home runs Tuesday, June 23, in a 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Valbuena has 19 home runs in his first 73 games, which is the most ever by an Astros third baseman.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is one of those players who has a low batting average yet blasts the ball with regularity. His batting average is below .200 (.195), which would ordinarily suggest stay away, but the 19 homers means Valbuena should be in your lineup until the power dries up.

Astros | Luis Valbuena on bench

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 16:05:30 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Monday, June 22. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at the hot corner and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .229 (36-for-157) with four home runs and 17 RBI this year and isn't a strong option for your FantasyScore lineups.

Astros | Luis Valbuena continues to power up

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 18:12:18 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena hit a pair of home runs and he finished with a walk and four RBIs Tuesday, June 16, against the Colorado Rockies. Valbuena has 41 hits this season, with a team-leading 16 homers.

Fantasy Tip: At just $3,700 (or 7.4% of cap) Valbuena is a cheap and tremendous source of power. Itís only mid-June and he has already tied a career-best (matching 2014) in home runs.

Astros | Luis Valbuena sitting vs. White Sox

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 15:04:27 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 10. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at third base and batting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has solid counting stats with 30 runs, 12 home runs and 21 RBI, but his .180/.249/.390 slash line is a category anchor. Of late, he is just 5-for-53 over his last 15 games. Gonzalez's ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) .572 OPS is even lower than Valbuena's mark (.639), and Gonzalez doesn't offer the counting stat upside. Avoid both in FantasyScore contests Wednesday.

Astros | Luis Valbuena has night off

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 14:27:30 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup against a left-handed pitcher Monday, June 8. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at third base and hitting eighth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will become a bench player after the call-up of top prospect Carlos Correa. Gonzalez hasn't done much with the lumber this year (.227-2-13), meaning you should ignore him on FantasyScore.

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena went 2-for-3 w3ith a solo home run Monday, June 1, against the Baltimore Orioles, raising his average to .196.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena has 11 homers, reaching the level for the third consecutive season. He comes with a low average but decent power making him a decent mid-level FantasyScore play at $4,200 (or 8.4% of cap).

Astros | Luis Valbuena sitting Monday

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:51:24 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup against a left-handed hurler Monday, May 18. SS Jonathan Villar is starting at the hot corner and hitting second in the batting order against Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz.

Fantasy Tip: Villar ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .238 (10-for-42) with no home runs and four RBI in 19 games for Houston. He's just 4-for-20 (.200) with three RBI batting right-handed against lefties this year, too. Villar isn't the best shortstop option you have this evening in daily games.

Astros | Luis Valbuena on the bench

Sun, 03 May 2015 10:58:23 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 3. SS Jonathan Villar will be the starting third baseman for the Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has had some problems at the plate and is receiving a day off. Villar ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is only hitting .182 this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.
