Alvarez, formerly known as Esmailyn Gonzalez, said he doubts his client, who lied about both his age and his name when the club signed him for a $1.4 million bonus in 2006, will be in camp when the rest of Washington's minor leaguers report Friday, March 13.

He is actually 23-year-old Carlos Alvarez Daniel Lugo, according to four sources. The team signed him for $1.4 million in July of 2006. It is not known if Gonzalez will be able to obtain a visa to try out for the team in Spring Training.
