Blue Jays | Danny Valencia in starting lineup

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 08:07:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Danny Valencia will start in left field against Detroit Tigers SP David Price Saturday, July 4, and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) likely is in the lineup since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. He is hitting .377 with one home run and nine RBI against lefties this season. Valencia could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore, but owners could also look at other options.

Blue Jays | Dioner Navarro not in vs. lefty

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 14:17:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miler Thursday, July 2. OF Danny Valencia is starting in left field and hitting seventh, with OF Chris Colabello playing first base.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) could pay off as a nice sleeper pick on FantasyScore tonight because of his .380/.415/.480 slash line with an .895 OPS against southpaws in 50 at-bats this year. However, none of his four home runs this year have come against left-handers.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin not in lineup Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 12:46:34 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 30, against the Boston Red Sox. C Dioner Navarro is batting seventh. In addition, 3B Josh Donaldson is at designated hitter and 3B Danny Valencia is at third base.

Fantasy Tip: The lineup switches are in part because Martin ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) gets a night off after playing the entire week at catcher. Navarro ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is 3-for-15 in the last seven days and isn't really worth picking up at the moment. Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has lost a significant chunk of playing time and has little fantasy value.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson sitting vs. Rays

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 12:46:15 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 22. OF Danny Valencia is starting at third and batting seventh against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Donaldson in all fantasy formats Monday. He is having a banner season with a league-leading 54 runs. Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) typically does his best work against southpaws (.929 OPS this season), so he is more of a low-priced flier than anything for FantasyScore players Monday. Still, Valencia has an excellent .575 slugging percentage against righties this season.

Blue Jays | Josh Donaldson will be DH

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 13:37:11 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson will serve as the designated hitter against New York Mets SP Jon Niese Wednesday, June 17, and is batting second in the lineup. OF Danny Valencia will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Donaldson ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is hitting .283 this month with two home runs and six RBI during that span. Donaldson is a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore. Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has played well in June with a .333 batting average with five RBI. He could be a cheaper option for owners to consider.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak not playing

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 10:19:52 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Sunday, June 14. OF Chris Colabello will start at first base and bat fifth, while OF Danny Valencia will start in left field and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) likely is sitting because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is batting .321 of the season and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 12:39:05 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Danny Valencia is batting sixth and playing third base against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand Monday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) owns a career .333/.371/.503 slash line against left-handed pitchers with a .923 OPS this season. FantasyScore players should view Valencia as an upside source of cap relief Monday.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Danny Valencia will start in left field Saturday, June 6, and is batting sixth in the starting lineup.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion misses both games

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 14:02:15 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion is out of the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader Tuesday, June 2. OF Chris Colabello is starting at first base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer. OF Danny Valencia also enters the lineup in the sixth spot while playing left field.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Encarnacion ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is dealing with an injury, but he is sitting out both games of the doubleheader today. Stay tuned for more updates. It's worth watching, especially since he's hitting a disappointing .216 (41-for-190) this season. Colabello ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) should both be avoided on FantasyScore against the overpowering Scherzer.

Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera draws start in RF

Wed, 27 May 2015 09:37:03 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera is starting in right field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija Wednesday, May 27. OF Danny Valencia will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) should be considered a weak play at FantasyScore today against a White Sox pitcher that has come on strong of late after a poor start to the season.
