Athletics | Danny Valencia resting Wednesday

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:11:53 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. 3B Brett Lawrie is starting at third, while 2B Eric Sogard receives the start at second base and is hitting ninth against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez.

Fantasy Tip: King Felix hasn't been his typical dominant self of late, but that doesn't change the fact that Sogard ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) shouldn't intrigue you much at all at FantasyScore. He's hitting .243 (79-for-325) and has no home runs on the season.

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 12:45:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia will bat cleanup and play the hot corner against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has a somewhat favorable matchup in FantasyScore this afternoon. He is batting .327 with six home runs and 19 RBIs at the Coliseum this season and is 1-for-4 in his career against Odorizzi.

Athletics | Danny Valencia sitting

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 14:39:20 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia is out of the lineup Saturday, Aug. 22, with 2B Eric Sogard hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Sogard ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) faces Erasmo Ramirez and isn't enough of an offensive player to use on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Danny Valencia moves up to third

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:24:42 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia will hit third Tuesday, Aug. 18, against the Los Angeles Dodgers and LHP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has a .308 batting average against lefties this season, and he can be used in GPP tournaments, with the majority of FantasyScore owners likely to avoid Kershaw completely.

Athletics | Danny Valencia homers in loss

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 21:33:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia hit a solo home run Monday, Aug. 17, against the Baltimore Orioles. He has four homers over his past 10 games since joining the team.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been a cheap source of power lately. Start him in FantasyScore and save lettuce to spread across other positions, at least until he slows down.

Athletics | Brett Lawrie sitting against Baltimore

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 12:38:48 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Brett Lawrie is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 17. OF Danny Valencia is starting at third base and batting fourth against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie is hitting just .185 in August, and he isn't a must-own bat in the majority of seasonal leagues. It also looks like he'll never live up to the promise he flashed early in his career. Lawrie has been seeing a lot of time at second base since Oakland added Valencia ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), which has pushed Eric Sogard ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) to a bench role. Valencia has a .947 OPS over nine games since joining the Athletics, and he has become a mainstay in the heart of their order. Don't overvalue him, though, as historically, he has been a platoon bat who does his best work against southpaws.

Athletics | Danny Valencia playing Sunday

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 09:45:46 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Danny Valencia (back, hamstring) will start at third base against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Sunday, Aug. 16, and is batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) returns to the lineup after missing the last games because of injuries. He has picked up at least one hit in seven of the last eight games with three home runs and eight RBI during that span. Valencia is a solid option on FantasyScore if he is healthy.

Athletics | Danny Valencia scratched, Lawrie in

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 13:35:56 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (hamstring, back) was scratched Saturday, Aug. 15, with 3B Brett Lawrie hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is hitting .174 this month and isn't a great option on FantasyScore against Miguel Gonzalez.

Athletics | Danny Valencia muscles up again

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 20:13:19 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, walk and two runs scored Wednesday, Aug. 12, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He has three homers in six games since joining the Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is red hot since coming over to Oakland and he has emerged as a decent FantasyScore option while he is powering up.

Athletics | Billy Butler losing playing time

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 11:51:37 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Billy Butler is not in the starting lineup for the third straight game Tuesday, Aug. 11. OF Danny Valencia is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison.

Fantasy Tip: The acquisition of Valencia last week has directly led to Butler's decrease in playing time. With less frequent at-bats, Butler is a candidate to be dropped in mixed leagues. Valencia ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is mainly a matchup play on FantasyScore against lefties, but he's not a bad daily play tonight against the struggling Hutchison in one of the best hitter's parks in baseball.
