Royals | Billy Butler sitting

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 08:25:38 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Billy Butler (rest) is receiving the day off Wednesday, July 23. INF Danny Valencia is replacing him as designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Deactivate Butler in your daily transactions. Though Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana has been tough this year, Valencia, a platoon tool, could be a sneaky daily play against the southpaw.

Royals | Danny Valencia out a few days

Mon, 26 May 2014 20:40:23 -0700

Kansas City Royals 3B Danny Valencia (hand) said Monday, May 26, that he underwent tests, including an MRI, and he was awaiting results. However, he also failed one crucial test. "He went in to try to swing, and he couldn't swing," manager Ned Yost said.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia is expected to be sidelined at least three to five days. Pedro Ciriaco and Jimmy Paredes will fill in until Valencia is ready to return. If you're looking for a daily fantasy replacement on the cheap, Ciriaco is considered better defensively, while Paredes has a little more upside from an offensive standpoint.

Royals | Mike Moustakas sent down

Thu, 22 May 2014 08:58:08 -0700

The Kansas City Royals optioned 3B Mike Moustakas to Triple-A Omaha Thursday, May 22, and recalled INF Jimmy Paredes in a corresponding move. Moustakas was hitting just .152 (19-for-125) with a .543 OPS in 40 games this year, and he was hitting .109 (6-for-55) at home. Paredes is expected to share time at third base with 3B Danny Valencia.

Fantasy Tip: In mixed leagues, there's no reason to hold Moose on your roster as we wait for him to figure something out in the minors. Depending on the size and depth of your AL-only league, it's probably wise to hold onto him if you can. The Royals still view him as a crucial piece to their franchise and will likely give him another shot.
