Dodgers | Corey Seager to start at 3B Friday

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 09:10:04 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager will be in the lineup again, this time at third base against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Friday, Sept. 4, as manager Don Mattingly gives 3B Justin Turner (knee) a day of rest. The plan is to mainly use Seager to spell Turner at third base. Turner has dealt with knee soreness for much of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Seager ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) had an impressive debut last night against the Padres, scoring two runs and recording two hits. His upside is huge at a position that often lacks offensive juggernauts, so he could even be valuable in deep mixed formats if he plays enough in the final month. He'll likely be popular on FantasyScore tonight, but beware of a letdown in his second start against the Friars' ace.

Dodgers | Justin Turner in lineup Thursday

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 15:54:45 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (pinkie) is in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea Thursday, Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: You could do much worse than Turner ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) on FantasyScore as your third baseman tonight, even after he was hit on the pinkie by a pitch last night.

Dodgers | Corey Seager to provide depth

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 09:52:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager is expected to back up SS Jimmy Rollins at shortstop and could also provide insurance behind 3B Justin Turner (pinkie), especially after Turner was hit by a pitch in his left pinkie Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Fantasy Tip: While Seager will be a utility infielder for the Dodgers in the last month, he could see decent playing time spelling Rollins and Turner, especially if Turner needs to rest his finger this week. Seager did nothing but hit in two minor league stops this year and is one of the top overall prospects in all of baseball. He's already owned in all keeper formats most likely, and he's worth adding in NL-only leagues, too.

Dodgers | Justin Turner has injured pinkie

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 09:28:29 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (pinkie) was hit by a pitch in his left pinkie Wednesday, Sept. 2, but X-rays came back negative. The Dodgers don't have a true backup third baseman, which may explain their call-up of SS prospect Corey Seager Thursday, Sept. 3. Seager is primarily a shortstop, but he started 19 games at third base in the minors this season in case the Dodgers needed to use him there. Seager has batted .293 with 18 home runs and an .831 OPS in 124 games in two minor league stops this year, and he was 11-for-35 with six extra-base hits in his last 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Turner's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) injury doesn't appear serious, so it's a bit of an unknown how much Seager will play this month as the Dodgers look to hold onto the National League West lead. Seager should already be owned in all keeper leagues, and he could be relevant in NL-only leagues, too, but his playing time could be sporadic.

Dodgers | Justin Turner out Sunday

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 15:02:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Enrique Hernandez is playing third base against Cubs SP Jake Arrieta, and OF Joc Pederson is in Hernandez's place.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) may be due for a day off with a .136 mark in the last week, and the right vs. left matchup may be just what Turner needs. Sit him down for the night.

Dodgers | Justin Turner back at 3B

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 14:56:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (thigh) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting third against Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Lamb is making his major league debut for the Reds, so using Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) in your FantasyScore starting lineups is wise. Turner was hitting an impressive .323 (83-for-257) with 13 home runs and 44 RBI before getting a serious MRSA infection in his leg.

Dodgers | Justin Turner activated

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 16:00:01 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (thigh) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, Aug. 13, and 2B Jose Peraza was optioned to Class AAA Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) isn't in the starting lineup tonight, but expect him to return tomorrow. He should immediately be put back into all starting lineups, and his position versatility for fantasy owners is clutch. If he picks up where he left off at the plate, Turner will continue to be an excellent value play on FantasyScore, too.

Dodgers | Justin Turner had MRSA

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 19:17:48 -0700

During a press conference Wednesday, Aug. 12, Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (thigh) said that he had been diagnosed with MRSA, which is a serious staph infection that can be difficult to treat if it spreads. Turner was placed on the disabled list because of a skin irritation on his right thigh but could be activated as soon as Thursday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Fortunately, Turner's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) situation is now under control. Although he has been a solid fantasy option this season, FantasyScore owners should avoid using him in his first game off the disabled list. Expect INFs Alex Guerrero ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) and Alberto Callaspo ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) to see decreased playing time once Turner is activated.

Dodgers | Justin Turner set for return

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 17:00:48 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (thigh) will be activated from the disabled list Thursday, Aug. 13, or Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be afraid to avoid Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) for a game or two until he returns to form. He has been an excellent fantasy option all season and projects to pick up where he left off hitting in the heart of the Los Angeles lineup. Check back for an official update on when he'll return.

Dodgers | Justin Turner back middle of the week

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 09:29:12 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (thigh) took batting practice Sunday, Aug. 9, and is expected to be activated from the disabled list this week.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is having a breakout season, batting .323 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI. He is a must-start in all yearly leagues and is competitively priced as a daily play. Alberto Callaspo and Alex Guerrero will return to part time duty when he returns.
