Fri, 17 May 2013 13:07:09 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) will begin his rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter Monday, May 20. Fantasy Tip: Because of the seriousness of Morrison's knee injury, expect his rehab assignment to last close to the 30-day limit. That puts him on track to return late in June. Morrison will be given the starting first base duties when he returns, so it's time to start considering stashing him in mixed leagues.
Tue, 14 May 2013 15:46:22 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Casey Kotchman (hamstring) has been running and is close to going on a rehab assignment in the next few days. 1B Logan Morrison (knee) played first base for five innings in extended spring training Tuesday, May 14. Fantasy Tip: Kotchman is expected to return before Morrison, and Kotchman should become the every day first baseman until Morrison makes his way back. Morrison doesn't have many at-bats in extended spring training right now, so he'll likely spend at least another 20 days getting up to speed. Morrison is a mixed league commodity if he's healthy, but there's no guarantee that the power he displayed before his knee injury will come back full bore.
Mon, 13 May 2013 10:22:18 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) has been serving as the designated hitter in extended spring training, and he'll start playing first base in games next week. 1B Casey Kotchman (hamstring) should begin a rehab assignment next week. Fantasy Tip: Greg Dobbs has been playing first base regularly with Morrison, Kotchman and Joe Mahoney (hamstring) all sidelined. Kotchman should be back before Morrison or Mahoney, which will push Dobbs back into a utility role. Morrison is the best fantasy option of this group, but his recovery from serious knee surgery clouds his production and power potential whenever he returns. He's probably not worth a roster spot in mixed leagues until he returns from the DL.
Tue, 07 May 2013 08:15:53 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) will begin playing games at extended spring training Tuesday, May 7. Fantasy Tip: He's still a month or so away. Keep an eye on his progress.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 11:38:50 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) started to run Friday, April 12, and manager Mike Redmond called it a "good sign." There is no timetable for Morrison's return, though. Fantasy Tip: Morrison should only be owned in the deepest of NL-only leagues. It very well could be a lost season for him, and he probably won't return until after the All-Star break.
Sun, 07 Apr 2013 14:46:20 -0700 Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond said 1B Logan Morrison (knee) could start running this week. Morrison has been fielding ground balls and taking batting practice.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 09:16:22 -0700 The Miami Marlins have placed 1B Logan Morrison (knee), OF Alfredo Silverio (elbow) and RP Jose Ceda (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list. They have placed 1B Joe Mahoney (oblique) and C Jeff Mathis (collarbone) on the 15-day disabled list.
Thu, 28 Mar 2013 10:45:25 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) is hoping to return to the team in early to mid-May. The club could choose to put him on the 60-day disabled list, though, if they feel he'll be ready closer to June, which would open a spot on the 40-man roster. Morrison will start running on the field and taking ground balls next week, and he's been going at 90 percent intensity on an anti-gravity treadmill. He has also taken swings in the cages but has yet to take batting practice. Morrison will begin the year playing games in extended spring training. Fantasy Tip: Morrison is an extremely risky selection, even late in drafts. He could easily miss half the season, and then there is the chance that his power is sapped in the second half as he adjusts to his new knee. He's now a part of one of the weakest lineups in baseball, too. There isn't much to like here in 2013.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 15:05:38 -0700 Miami Marlins 1B Logan Morrison (knee) hit balls of a tee Tuesday, March 19, but there is no timetable for his return. Morrison is hoping to play in rehab games by the middle of April, and he's been running on an anti-gravity treadmill since late February. Fantasy Tip: This could very well be another lost season for Morrison. There is no telling how long it'll take him to get back into game action. When he does, how much will affect his already shaky power and BA profiles? Expect Casey Kotchman and Joe Mahoney to battle for PT at first base until Morrison returns.
Thu, 21 Feb 2013 08:59:07 -0800 Updating previous reports, Miami Marlins OF Logan Morrison (knee) will begin a month-long running progression by running on a treadmill Thursday, Feb. 21. The hope is he'll be ready by April 15.
