Houston Astros 1B Carlos Lee (ankle) suffered a sprained left ankle in the game Friday, April 27, against the Cincinnati Reds. It's uncertain how much time, if any, he will miss. INF Matt Downs replaced him at first base.

Houston Astros OF Brian Bogusevic will get a long look in center field this spring, and he'll compete with OFs Jordan Schafer and Jason Bourgeois for the starting job there. "His ability gives him the opportunity to be able to play center or right, but we want this guy to step up and be an everyday starter for us and there's no reason he won't be able to," manager Bradley Mills said of Bogusevic. "We all saw what he can do at times last year." OF Jack Cust, 1B Jonathan Singleton and INFs Matt Downs and Brian Bixler will also see time in the outfield.

Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve is batting .378 with a .409 on-base percentage through his first 38 games with the Magallanes Navegantes of the Venezuelan winter league. He is among the league leaders in batting average, at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, total bases, extra-base hits and slugging percentage. Altuve is expected to compete with IF Matt Downs for the starting job at second base in spring training.
