The Detroit Tigers have placed SP Kyle Lobstein (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list because of left shoulder soreness. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Sunday, May 24. In a corresponding move, INF Dixon Machado was promoted from Class AAA Toledo. SP Buck Farmer will be recalled from Toledo to start in Lobstein's place against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, April 28.
Fantasy Tip: Farmer struggled during a brief stint in the majors last season but he has gotten off to a strong start at Toledo this year, posting a 5-1 record with a 2.98 ERA. His high strikeout totals could make him intriguing to owners in AL-only leagues.

Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Lobstein is the probable starter for Tuesday, April 21, against the New York Yankees. He remains in the rotation with SP Justin Verlander (triceps) sidelined.
Fantasy Tip: Lobstein beat the Indians in his first start, and is worth a flier in FantasyScore at just $3,000 (or 6.0% of cap) if you want to save money and load up on high-end hitters.

Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander (triceps) won't make his season debut Tuesday, April 21, instead SP Kyle Lobstein will make his second start of the season. Verlander cut short his simulated game Wednesday, April 15.
Fantasy Tip: Verlander ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has really come along slowly in his recovery from a strained triceps in his right arm. After such a long layoff from spring training, it isn't advised to use him in his season debut, whenever that may be. Lobstein ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will be a midrange starting pitcher option on Tuesday against the New York Yankees at FantasyScore.

Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Lobstein is likely to be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start Sunday, April 12, against the Cleveland Indians in place of SP Justin Verlander (triceps).
Fantasy Tip: Lobstein could be a cheap FantasyScore option if you want to save salary to load up on stud hitters, especially since Lobstein will be facing a Cleveland team which was blanked in its opener.

One of the Detroit Tigers' top priorities this offseason is to acquire a left-handed reliever, although they are unlikely to pursue free-agent RP Andrew Miller (Orioles). According to general manager Dave Dombrowski, they could convert one of their young left-handed starters (such as Kyle Lobstein, Robbie Ray or Kyle Ryan) into a reliever or look within the organization for help, although it is more likely that they will sign a free agent.
