Indians | Yan Gomes sitting out vs. Texas

Wed, 27 May 2015 06:52:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup against the Texas Rangers Wednesday, May 27. C Roberto Perez is batting ninth and starting behind the plate Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Gomes ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) from all fantasy lineups Wednesday. Gomes is expected to start every other day, as he eases his way back from a lengthy absence due to a knee injury. FantasyScore players should view Perez ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) as nothing more than a desperation flier Wednesday.

Indians | Yan Gomes sitting out

Mon, 25 May 2015 11:53:24 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 25. C Roberto Perez will be the starting catcher for the Indians.

Fantasy Tip: The Indians likely are being cautious with Gomes ($4,600, 9.2% of cap), which is why he is sitting out. Perez ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has not done much at the plate lately and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Indians | Corey Kluber missing Yan Gomes?

Mon, 11 May 2015 15:21:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber is 18-9 with a 2.39 ERA with C Yan Gomes as his catcher since the start of last year, and he's 0-5 with a 5.13 ERA with all other catcher. Kluber was 0-1 with a 2.63 ERA when Gomes was hurt early this season, and he's 0-4 with a 6.10 ERA while pitching to C Roberto Perez. Gomes is expected to be out until June.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is fanning 9.3 hitters per nine innings and walking just 2.2 hitters per nine, while opponents are hitting .364 on balls put in play. His strand rate is also way down at 62.3%, suggesting that a turnaround is imminent from last year's Cy Young winner. Kluber is an excellent buy-low target, and he'll be a good contrarian play at FantasyScore while others avoid him.

Indians | Roberto Perez sitting against Twins

Fri, 08 May 2015 13:20:21 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez is not in the starting lineup against the Minnesota Twins Friday, May 8. C Brett Hayes is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Perez ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) from all fantasy lineups Friday. Hayes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a fantasy afterthought with a .208 batting average through 423 at-bats, and FantasyScore players should aim higher Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game. Hayes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has not had much success at the plate this season but both of his hits on the season have been home runs. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.

Indians | Roberto Perez sitting vs. Jay Birds

Fri, 01 May 2015 12:42:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, May 1. C Brett Hayes is starting behind the plate and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has been widely inconsistent this season with two three-hit games and eight hitless showings over his last 10 outings. He is a high-risk, high-reward option for daily contests. Hayes ($1,600, 3.2%) has gone 1-for-11 at the plate this season, and cap relief is the only thing he brings to the FantasyScore table.

Indians | Roberto Perez snaps out of funk

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 21:41:58 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez snapped an 0-for-18 slide Wednesday, April 29, against the Kansas City Royals, posting a home run and finishing with three hits, two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,800; or 5.6% of cap) continues to fill in for the injured Yan Gomes, but he hasn't done much of anything lately. Perhaps this will get him back on track and make him attractive to FantasyScore players again.

Indians | Roberto Perez not in lineup

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 07:41:08 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez is not in the starting lineup Saturday, April 25. C Brett Hayes will be the starting catcher for the Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) played Friday, April 24, so he is probably receiving a day off. Hayes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has received only five at-bats this season and probably is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Indians | Roberto Perez next man up

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 17:13:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez would be the next man up to replace C Yan Gomes (unknown) after Gomes was helped off the field Saturday, April 11, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) went two for four with a home run, two RBI and one run in his lone start this season, and hit .271 with one home run and four RBI in 85 plate appearances in 2014. As most daily fantasy players elect to punt the catcher position, Perez will represent one of the cheapest options, and he does have some upside in his bat, if Gomes were to miss time.
