Indians | Yan Gomes, Lonnie Chisenhall out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:31:48 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Lonnie Chisenhall are not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene Sunday, April 24. OF Marlon Byrd will play right field and bat sixth, while C Roberto Perez starts behind the plate and bats ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes had five RBI Saturday but is receiving the day off because the club is playing a day game following a night game, while Chisenhall has collected just two hits in his first 16 at-bats since coming off the disabled list. Byrd has two home runs and five RBI in 36 at-bats this year and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy contests, while Perez should strictly be viewed as a source of salary cap relief.

Indians | Yan Gomes has day off

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 07:46:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with C Roberto Perez hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Perez is hitless in four at-bats this year, and there are better options at the position than taking a chance on him against Nathan Karns.

Indians | Yan Gomes grabs some pine

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:12:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is out of the lineup Thursday, April 14, with C Roberto Perez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: It's Perez's first start of the season, but it comes against ace Chris Archer. There are better options at catcher today.

Indians | Roberto Perez catching Sunday

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 09:22:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Roberto Perez will bat seventh against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Sunday, April 10. C Yan Gomes is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes should be removed from all fantasy lineups Sunday. Perez is making his first appearance of the season and is nothing more than an inexpensive flier option for daily games.

Indians | Yan Gomes, Chris Johnson not in

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:00:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and 3B Chris Johnson are not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. C Roberto Perez is behind the plate and batting seventh, while 2B Michael Martinez draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey.

Fantasy Tip: Duffey has been very impressive in the last month for the Twins. Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Martinez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) are nothing more than desperation plays as salary cap relief.

Indians | Yan Gomes out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 10:36:58 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not starting Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Kansas City Royals. C Roberto Perez is starting in place of Gomes and batting ninth against Royals SP Chris R. Young.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is hitting .333 in the past week, but he has a .194 average against Kansas City and a .250 mark against Young so the team is playing the percentages and giving Gomes a day off from catching. Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has had no luck against Young and should be left on the bench.

Indians | Yan Gomes relegated to the bench

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 14:35:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. C Roberto Perez is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Gomes ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday, and seasonal owners should view him as nothing more than a cavernous mixed, two-catcher and AL-only option. Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) owns an underwhelming .211 batting average and .374 slugging percentage against righties this season, and he doesn't project favorably for FantasyScore contests Friday.

Indians | No Yan Gomes against White Sox

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:41:57 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. C Roberto Perez is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Friday.

Fantasy Tip: It has been a tough season for Gomes ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) who is reeling through a miserable 16-for-93 stretch over his past 25 games. He cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format. Facing Sale ($8,900, 17.8% of cap), Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) checks out as an extremely risky play at FantasyScore Friday.

Indians | No Yan Gomes vs. White Sox

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 15:05:29 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 9. C Roberto Perez is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Gomes ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. Between injuries and poor play, it has been a disappointing season for the backstop. Gomes has bounce-back potential for 2016, though. Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) owns a .162/.311/.189 slash line over 14 games since the All-Star break and is a desperation play in all fantasy formats, and especially at FantasyScore.

Indians | Yan Gomes not in starting lineup Saturday

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 14:21:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not starting Saturday, Sept. 5, against the Detroit Tigers. C Roberto Perez is in Gomes' place and hitting eighth against Tigers SP Alfredo Simon.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has no hits in seven career at-bats against Simon, which is why the switch is likely occurring. Perez ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has a .204 batting average against the right, so he carries little FantasyScore value.
