Twins | Three Twins starters on the bench

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:33:52 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Robbie Grossman, SS Eduardo Escobar and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Sunday, July 24. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop, while 1B Kennys Vargas will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting seven, while C Juan Centeno will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is hitting .211 with one RBI over the last seven days and probably will not be the best starting candidate for most owners. Rosario should be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues because he is hitting .396 with two home runs and seven RBI in July. Centeno is hitting .245 this season and would only have value in two-catcher leagues.

Twins | Eddie Rosario starting in left field

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 07:58:58 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Eddie Rosario is starting in left field and batting seventh against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Wednesday, July 20. OF Robbie Grossman is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a disappointing sophomore campaign for Rosario, as he sits with an underwhelming .640 OPS after flashing five-category potential last year. He's hot right now with a 15-for-42 start to July, though. He's a potential buy-low candidate in deep mixed and AL-only leagues and a low-priced flier for daily contests Wednesday. With a solid .282/.419/.453 slash line, Grossman has played well for Minnesota and should be owned in all deep leagues.

Twins | Minnesota resting three players

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 09:51:24 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer, 3B Miguel Sano and CB Byron Buxton are not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin Sunday, July 17. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at third base, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. 1B Kennys Vargas will start at first base and is batting third. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting sixth, while OF Danny Santana will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is hitting .400 with three home runs and four RBI since being recalled from the minor leagues and should be a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Rosario has 12 hits in his last five games and should be used in starting lineups. Santana has at least one hit in five of his last seven games, but owners probably will be able to find better options.

Twins | Robbie Grossman killing southpaws

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 14:22:48 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Robbie Grossman, a switch-hitter, is batting .379 against left-handed pitchers this year, which is the third-highest average in the American League among qualified hitters.

Fantasy Tip: Grossman has carved out a starting role with the Twins by hitting .285/.419/.470 with six home runs and 20 RBI. He's a career .248 hitter and has already matched his career high for homers in a season, so it's unlikely he hits at this high a clip the rest of the season. Against Cole Hamels tonight, though, he could be a successful value play in DFS.

Twins | Joe Mauer, Eduardo Escobar out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:18:21 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Joe Mauer and SS Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea Tuesday, July 5. 1B Kennys Vargas will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. OF Danny Santana will start in left field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas went hitless in his only other start of the season, so owners outside of AL-only leagues should avoid him. Santana is hitting only .188 over the last seven days and is not a strong fantasy option.

Twins | Joe Mauer, Byron Buxton out

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 10:19:18 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer and OF Byron Buxton are not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels Sunday, July 3. 3B Trevor Plouffe will start at first base, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting eighth. OF Danny Santana will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario had a .200 batting average with three home runs and nine RBI when he was with the team earlier in the season. He probably should be avoided by most owners at this point. Santana is hitting .083 with one home run over the last seven days and should not be used by owners.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar makes early exit

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 12:53:25 -0700

Minnesota Twins INF Eduardo Escobar (undiclosed) left the game against the Texas Rangers Saturday, July 2, due to an apparent injury. As a result, INF/OF Danny Santana moved to shortstop, with OF Robbie Grossman entering the game to play left field.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar was 0-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base before exiting Saturday's contest. Keep checking back to find out updates on his status going forward.

Twins | Robbie Grossman, Kurt Suzuki out

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 08:59:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Robbie Grossman and C Kurt Suzuki are not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Chi Chi Rodriguez Saturday, July 2. SS Danny Santana will start in left field and is batting seventh, while C Juan Centeno will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Santana has only two hits in his last eight games and probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues. Centeno has only one hit in his last five games and hit .161 in June. Owners should be able to find better catcher options and can avoid Centeno.

Twins | Robbie Grossman dropped in order

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 13:47:14 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Robbie Grossman has been dropped to sixth in the batting order against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Martin Perez Friday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: With Miguel Sano back from the DL Friday, Grossman drops down the order against a left-hander. After a hot start with Minnesota, Grossman has just three hits in his last 21 at-bats with a homer and two RBI. He's mainly depth in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, and he should be avoided against the southpaw in DFS.

Twins | Joe Mauer out Thursday

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 08:44:41 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer is out of the lineup Thursday, June 30, with OF Robbie Grossman hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: It's quite a leap for Grossman to go from a guy that didn't start the season in the majors to hit third for the Twins today. The numbers don't support it, though. He's hitting .136 the last seven days and .231 this month. He is facing lefty Carlos Rodon, and he has hit .362 against lefties in 47 at-bats this year. However, he needs to be at a basement price to make the risk feasible.
