Rangers | Derek Holland to have MRI

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 17:59:24 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) will have a follow-up MRI this week before he is cleared for the next step in his rehab. He has stretched his throwing program out to 120 feet, and the next step might be throwing from a mound.

Fantasy Tip: Holland is making his way back from a serious shoulder injury, so it's uncertain how effective he will be when he finally returns and in what capacity he will work. FantasyScore players need to let him get a few appearances under his belt before trusting him again.

Rangers | Derek Holland update

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 09:02:51 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) had an MRI on his shoulder reveal improvement, and he'll begin a two-week throwing program. He'll undergo another MRI after he completes the throwing program, and the best-case scenario is he returns in early August.

Fantasy Tip: Holland isn't a must-stash outside of AL-only leagues, but he'll be a matchup play on FantasyScore upon return.

Rangers | Derek Holland has rehab slowed

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 22:23:48 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) threw from 90 feet Monday, June 8. He will have another MRI June 19, and will not throw off a mound until then.

Fantasy Tip: The team is taking it really slow with Holland in his rehab. He is likely several weeks away from contributing for FantasyScore players.

Rangers | Derek Holland survives 20 throws

Thu, 28 May 2015 15:56:26 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) threw 20 throws from 60 feet Thursday, May 28, with no ill side effects.

Fantasy Tip: Holland is worth monitoring in mixed leagues, but he's not yet worthy of stashing. Holland has suffered one injury after another over the last couple seasons, and he won't be worth owning until he actually takes to the mound for a meaningful game.

Rangers | Derek Holland may throw at week's end

Mon, 25 May 2015 01:36:53 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) could start a throwing program at the end of this week. Holland has not pitched since his first start on April 10.

Fantasy Tip: Holland ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) may not be ready for another few weeks, but this is an indication he's taking the next step. Give him some space to do so and don't pick Holland up until he's proven successful.

Rangers | Derek Holland two weeks from throwing

Fri, 08 May 2015 15:41:17 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland's (shoulder) shoulder scan showed healing, but the plan is for him to hold off from throwing for another two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Holland ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has pitched 38 innings since 2013, and he is currently on the 60-day disabled list. He is a long way from contributing to fantasy teams, and you can drop him freely in the majority of formats if needed.

Rangers | Derek Holland to receive MRI

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:09:43 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) will receive an MRI exam on his left shoulder next Friday, and he hopes to resume throwing the next day.

Fantasy Tip: Holland ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is currently on the 60-day DL, so he won't be back for a while. If you don't have the room to stash him in standard mixed leagues, he's worth dropping.

Rangers | Derek Holland out at least a month

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 16:52:41 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) will not pick up a baseball for a month because of a sub scapular strain in his shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Holland likely will miss more than a month because of the injury, so owners in deep mixed leagues and AL-only leagues should stash him on their disabled list if they have an available spot. Owners on FantasyScore can avoid him until he is closer returning.

Rangers | Derek Holland out with shoulder tightness

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 13:39:40 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) left his start against the Houston Astros Friday, April 10, after the first inning with tightness in his left shoulder. However, it isn't in the same area where he dealt with stiffness during spring training. Holland will undergo further evaluations.

Fantasy Tip: A torn knee legiment limited Holland ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) to only five starts in 2014, so to be already dealing with shoulder issues is concerning. While it is too early to jump to conclusions, banking on anything from Holland in the near future is likely ill-advised. Continue to check back for updates, but Holland is replaceable in shallow formats.

Rangers | Derek Holland may be pushed back

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 09:48:40 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) might not be ready to start in the first three days of the regular season, according to manager Jeff Bannister. Bannister said having Holland start the home opener "would not be bad thing."

Fantasy Tip: Holland appears to be fine in relation to the shoulder injury he's dealt with early in spring. After a freak leg injury that ruined his 2014 season, Holland will come into 2015 fantasy baseball drafts as a sleeper worth taking a chance on in the later rounds.
