Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland seems more focused this season and is attacking hitters more often on the mound. He lowered his ERA on the year to 2.81 and picked up his fourth win of the month by beating the Kansas City Royals Friday, May 31. "I don't think I've seen him this focused," C A.J. Pierzynski said. "It always seemed like there was some kind of distraction. He's more comfortable. It's part of being a big leaguer and growing up"

Rangers | Yu Darvish has next start pushed back

Updating previous reports, the Texas Rangers have decided to push SP Yu Darvish's (blister) next start back to Friday, April 19. SPs Derek Holland, Justin Grimm and Alexi Ogando will start against the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series beginning Tuesday, April 16.

Rangers | Derek Holland has food poisoning

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (illness) came down with a case of food poisoning Thursday, March 14, while participating in the World Baseball Classic with Team USA. It is not considered serious but the Rangers want him examined before they allow him to pitch again. Holland could start as soon as Tuesday, March 19, against the Chicago Cubs.

Rangers | Three advance in WBC

Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz and INF Leury Garcia are the only two position players on the roster to have had their nation advance in the World Baseball Classic. Both players represent the Dominican Republic. SP Derek Holland helped Team USA to a win Sunday, March 10, and the USA marches into the next round as well.

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland is hoping to be able to finish off hitters better after allowing three hits to hitters with two strikes on them Friday, Feb. 22. "I felt good," Holland said. "The main objective was to go out there and execute my pitches. I threw all my pitches for a strike -- ahead in the count and behind in the count. The only thing is I gave up two two-strike hits." He had a .185 opponent average when ahead 0-2 in the count last season.
