According to major league officials, the Texas Rangers have approached SP Derek Holland about a contract extension that could buy out his arbitration-eligible years and delay free agency. Holland, 25, will be eligible for arbitration after next season and for free agency after the 2016 season.

Texas Rangers SPs C.J. Wilson and Derek Holland will both be available out of the bullpen in Game 7 of the World Series Friday, Oct. 28, but Wilson will go before Holland.

Freese hit .456 (21-for-46) during the streak with seven doubles and 16 RBIs, but Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland kept him two shy of tying OF Marquis Grissom's 15-game playoff hitting streak, the longest by a National League player.

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland allowed just two hits and two walks in 8 1/3 scoreless innings in a win in Game 4 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He walked two and struck out seven in the 116-pitch quality start. Holland was aggressive, confident and was rarely in trouble.
