Giants | Brandon Crawford up to fifth

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 10:26:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is hitting fifth Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: He hasn't done much in the power categories, but he has a good history against Andrew Cashner. He's a solid DFS option today.

Giants | Brandon Crawford back in lineup

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 15:14:52 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (hip) is back in the lineup Saturday, April 16, and will hit seventh against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Scott Kazmir. Giants OF Denard Span will return to his usual spot in center after a day of rest and bat leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's hip issue is apparently a minor one, although the Giants sorely missed his Gold Glove defense in the opener on Friday when replacement Kelby Tomlinson was charged with two errors. Crawford is off to a slow start this season and should probably remain on benches in most leagues for the time being. It is worth noting Crawford was the only San Francisco regular not to get a hit when the Giants roughed up Kazmir last weekend.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Crawford not playing

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:15:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and SS Brandon Crawford (hip) are both out of the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, April 15. OF Angel Pagan moves up to the leadoff spot. OF Gregor Blanco draws the start in center field and is hitting ninth, while 2B Kelby Tomlinson is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's injury isn't believed to be serious, and he might've been out tonight anyway while going against Kershaw. Put him back in your starting lineups when he returns. Blanco and Tomlinson should be avoided in daily games. Pagan is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with five doubles in his career against Kershaw and is a contrarian daily pick tonight.

Giants | Brandon Crawford exits with hip injury

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 15:56:53 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (hip) left the game because his hip flexor flared up Thursday, April 14, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is one of the few shortstops capable of hitting 20 home runs, but he has also been prone to nagging injuries since entering the league. Stay tuned for updates, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was rested Friday, April 15.

Giants | Brandon Crawford resting Saturday

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 11:08:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday, April 9. INF Ehire Adrianza will play shortstop and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is probably getting the day off because the team is facing left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw. Look for him to return to the lineup Sunday, April 10. Adrianza is not a recommended option in any fantasy format.

Giants | Brandon Crawford posts two XBH

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 22:10:04 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford went 2-for-4 with a double and solo home run Tuesday, April 5, against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford has reached safely and posted at least one run in each game so far. He is a Top 10 fantasy option at his position for his extra-base hit potential.

Giants | Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford to be rested

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 16:44:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey and SS Brandon Crawford could be rested as soon as Wednesday, April 6, as manager Bruce Bochy wants to keep his regulars fresh for the long season. Bochy also wants to give 2B Kelby Tomlinson and SS Ehire Adrianza starts to keep them sharp.

Fantasy Tip: Take note and be prepared to bench Posey and/or Crawford tomorrow against Milwaukee. Tomlinson and Adrianza are low-end cheap flyers in daily contests if they see a spot start.

Giants | Brandon Crawford takes the field

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 13:19:43 -0800

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (shoulder) made his defensive debut Wednesday, March 9. He has been nursing shoulder tendinitis early this spring.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford returned 65 runs, 20 home runs, 84 RBI and a .256/.321/.462 slash line through just 561 plate appearances last season. The counting stats and batting average were career-best marks, and in his prime, Crawford projects to have another excellent season. He is one of the rare shortstops who can flirt with 20-bombs and is a solid option in the middle rounds.

Giants | Brandon Crawford update

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:52:24 -0800

Correcting a previous report, San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (shoulder) has some shoulder soreness that also caused him to miss time last spring. This injury is more mild, but the Giants are being cautious with him and won't start him at shortstop for about a week. OFs Denard Span and Angel Pagan, who are coming off injuries, will also be eased into spring games.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford took a big step forward last year, and his ability to hit for a decent average with plus power is a big development at a position that lacks many strong options. Crawford is one of the more consistent all-around players at his position.

Giants | Brandon Crawford won't be rushed

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 14:55:18 -0800

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (elbow) will not start at shortstop in spring training until next week, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Crawford has had a cranky elbow at times, although Bochy said Crawford is 100% healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Career highs across the board for Crawford last year rewarded his owners. His hard contact says he should be able to sustain his power growth, too, and he's still on the right side of 30. Crawford is less hyped, but he's one of the top all-around shortstops in the game right now.
