Giants | Brandon Crawford logs two hits, five RBI

Tue, 17 May 2016 22:58:45 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford went 2-for-3 with his fifth home run of the season Tuesday, May 17, against the San Diego Padres. He finished the night with a run scored and five RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's been underwhelming this year after his breakout campaign in 2015, but considering he only had one RBI in his last seven, perhaps this is the performance that ignites his season. He can still be one of the better shortstops for fantasy from the National League.

Giants | Brandon Crawford out with neck soreness

Sat, 14 May 2016 15:46:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (neck) is out of the lineup Saturday, May 14, with neck soreness. He could play, but the team opted to rest him. SS Kelby Tomlinson is in the lineup hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Tomlinson is up to .319 and a perfect 4-for-4 the last week. He's a basement flyer worth consideration against Archie Bradley.

Giants | No Brandon Crawford Tuesday

Tue, 10 May 2016 15:44:56 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP J.A. Happ Tuesday, May 10. 2B Kelby Tomlinson is starting at the 6 and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is likely just resting against the southpaw. Tomlinson is hitting .273 (12-for-44), but he has only one extra-base hit and two RBI, so he doesn't move the needle much at all in any fantasy league. Avoid him in DFS action tonight.

Giants | Brandon Crawford has solid game

Sat, 07 May 2016 21:28:12 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford had two hits and drove in a run Saturday, May 7, in a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford has five runs and nine hits in his past eight games, including a three-run homer in the Friday game. He has been a source of consistency in recent games and that makes him a strong player in fantasy circles. He is on track to match his .256-21-84 pace of a year ago.

Giants | Brandon Crawford leaves the yard

Fri, 06 May 2016 23:44:55 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Friday, May 6, against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford managed just six RBIs through his first 25 games, but he has driven in eight runs over his past five to re-emerge as a must-start fantasy option in NL-only leagues, most mixed formats and DFS play.

Giants | Brandon Crawford saves the day

Mon, 02 May 2016 23:33:45 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and four RBIs Monday, May 2, against the Cincinnati Reds. His three-run shot in the seventh inning helped the team come back and win.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford had managed just six RBIs to date, and he is hitting .253 overall. Fantasy owners expected a little more out of Crawford this season. However, this type of game might just be something to jump-start him heading into May.

Giants | Brandon Crawford up to fifth

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 10:26:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is hitting fifth Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: He hasn't done much in the power categories, but he has a good history against Andrew Cashner. He's a solid DFS option today.

Giants | Brandon Crawford back in lineup

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 15:14:52 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (hip) is back in the lineup Saturday, April 16, and will hit seventh against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Scott Kazmir. Giants OF Denard Span will return to his usual spot in center after a day of rest and bat leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's hip issue is apparently a minor one, although the Giants sorely missed his Gold Glove defense in the opener on Friday when replacement Kelby Tomlinson was charged with two errors. Crawford is off to a slow start this season and should probably remain on benches in most leagues for the time being. It is worth noting Crawford was the only San Francisco regular not to get a hit when the Giants roughed up Kazmir last weekend.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Crawford not playing

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:15:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and SS Brandon Crawford (hip) are both out of the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, April 15. OF Angel Pagan moves up to the leadoff spot. OF Gregor Blanco draws the start in center field and is hitting ninth, while 2B Kelby Tomlinson is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's injury isn't believed to be serious, and he might've been out tonight anyway while going against Kershaw. Put him back in your starting lineups when he returns. Blanco and Tomlinson should be avoided in daily games. Pagan is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with five doubles in his career against Kershaw and is a contrarian daily pick tonight.

Giants | Brandon Crawford exits with hip injury

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 15:56:53 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (hip) left the game because his hip flexor flared up Thursday, April 14, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford is one of the few shortstops capable of hitting 20 home runs, but he has also been prone to nagging injuries since entering the league. Stay tuned for updates, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was rested Friday, April 15.
