Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) will begin his rehab assignment by starting for Single-A Clearwater Thursday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: Lannan will probably need a handful of starts in the minors before he's deemed ready to join the major league club. Once he's ready, he could replace either Tyler Cloyd or Jonathan Pettibone in the starting rotation.

Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) is likely to need more than the original eight weeks prescribed back on April 18 for his recovery. It's unknown if he'll head to extended spring training or on an official rehab assignment Thursday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: Lannan will be an option to replace either Tyler Cloyd or Jonathan Pettibone in the starting rotation once he's healthy. Lannan hasn't had tremendous success in the majors ever, though, making him a less-than-intriguing option in mixed leagues.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick used to be plucked from the bullpen and plugged into the starting rotation if injuries struck, but now he is cemented as the team's fourth starter. Pitching coach Rich Dubee will use spring training to formulate his depth chart and find the next potential replacement if trouble strikes. The team signed veteran Ps Aaron Cook and Rodrigo Lopez to minor-league deals, and they represent the sort of Triple-A depth a team requires. Ps Tyler Cloyd, Ethan Martin, Adam Morgan and Jonathan Pettibone might also get a chance to move up the depth chart.

The Philadelphia Daily News' David Murphy reports the Philadelphia Phillies signed third-round pick P Jonathan Pettibone to a contract that, according to a team source, included a signing bonus in the neighborhood of $500,000.
