Wed, 19 Jun 2013 09:13:31 -0700 Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) has been activated from the disabled list and has been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Fantasy Tip: Good news for Anthony Rendon owners. He should have a hold on the second base gig for at least the next few weeks, but there's a good chance it'll be much longer.
Wed, 19 Jun 2013 09:04:58 -0700 Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) could stay in the minors after his rehab assignment is done, per general manager Mike Rizzo, but that decision hasn't been made yet. Anthony Rendon has played well, and Espinosa needs to work on getting fully healthy and fixing his swing. Fantasy Tip: Rendon owners would be pleased. It's going to be tough for the Nats to play both consistently without an injury to someone else. Espinosa could be worth a stash in deep leagues if someone ditched him, but getting a payoff will probably require patience.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 17:59:16 -0700 Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) played three innings in a minor-league rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse Thursday, June 13, as he makes his way back from a fractured right wrist. Espinosa's wrist felt fine after the outing, manager Davey Johnson said Friday, June 14.
Wed, 12 Jun 2013 16:33:09 -0700 Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) has already resumed baseball activities and will report to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, June 13, to play three innings in the first game of a rehab assignment. Fantasy Tip: It still seems likely that the Nats will give him some time to work out his hitting woes on the farm, given that Anthony Rendon is hitting. The Nats have made it clear that Espinosa is in their plans, though, so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Thu, 06 Jun 2013 13:29:08 -0700 Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) received a cortisone shot in his wrist Thursday, June 6, and he should be able to resume baseball activities in four to five days. Fantasy Tip: Espinosa may not need surgery to fix his wrist problems, but he'll likely need plenty of time for it to heal on his own. Then, the Nats have indicated that they'd like to get him right down in the minors. It looks like it'll be a while before we'll see Espinosa back at the major league level. Anthony Rendon is the answer at second base for now and likely for the long term. Espinosa can be dropped in all mixed leagues.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 14:16:34 -0700 Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo suggested that the team might send 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) down to the minors when he's healthy to get him straightened out. Fantasy Tip: Espinosa should be away from the Nationals for a while, depending on the severity of his wrist injury and whether he'll need surgery. Anthony Rendon should have plenty of time to prove he's learned from his initial call-up. That makes him a must-add in all formats.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 13:33:40 -0700 Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist, shoulder) did not land on the disabled list due to his shoulder. He will have his wrist examined by a specialist Wednesday, June 5.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 13:08:35 -0700 The Washington Nationals placed 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist, shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 4, but it's unknown if it's for his shoulder or wrist. Espinosa could need to have shoulder surgery. Fantasy Tip: This doesn't look good for Espinosa, who was fighting to overcome a wrist injury much of the season. If he needs shoulder surgery on top of it, there's a good chance he won't be back at all. You can probably drop him in all formats. Anthony Rendon was called up and should see the majority of starts at second base over Steve Lombardozzi.
Sat, 01 Jun 2013 10:46:23 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon has been promoted from Double-A Harrisburg to Triple-A Syracuse, where he'll play mostly second base. Fantasy Tip: Danny Espinosa's struggles at second base in Washington are taking their toll. Steve Lombardozzi had been filling in with Espinosa sitting out with a wrist ailment, but Rendon clearly presents the club with the most offensive upside. However, he'll need time to transition from third to second base, so a call-up to D.C. isn't imminent. Still, you'll need to keep a close eye on his progress if you want to snag him in mixed formats when he returns to the bigs.
Wed, 29 May 2013 13:00:45 -0700 Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper (knee) remains out Wednesday, May 29, but 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) is returning to the lineup.
