Royals | KC may use platoon in right field

Sun, 31 Jan 2016 07:31:34 -0800

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost hinted that OFs Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando could platoon in right field during the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson hit .250 with two home runs and 25 RBIs in 200 at-bats last season and was successful on 26 of 29 stolen-base attempts. As a left-handed hitter, he would be likely to receive most of the playing time in this projected timeshare. Orlando hit .249 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 241 at-bats in 2015, including a .265 mark versus left-handed pitching. Both players should be viewed as reserve outfield options for AL-only and cavernous mixed formats.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Cain ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. He left the game early Wednesday, Sept. 30, due to a right knee contusion and could be in danger of being rested again this weekend. Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has played sparingly, but he checks out as a potential value play at FantasyScore Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Gordon ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) in all formats. He has gone hitless in four consecutive games, so a rest seems fitting. Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has nice upside at FantasyScore Sunday, and he checks out as a risk-reward play due to his respectable .443 slugging percentage.

Seasonal owners will want to check back for updates on his status this weekend. Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has some upside with a .472 slugging percentage against righties this season, but he is still nothing more than a flier at FantasyScore Friday.

Royals | Alex Gordon not starting again

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 13:45:39 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is not in the lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP John Danks Friday, Sept. 4. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in left field and is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando ($3,300, 6.0% of cap) has a very limited daily ceiling and doesn't have much power or speed. Consider him a low-end outfield click on FantasyScore tonight, even against a very hittable southpaw in Danks.

Royals | No Alex Rios vs. O's

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in right field and is hitting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) doesn't really do anything that stands out for fantasy owners, and his low lineup positioning doesn't make him attractive at all on FantasyScore tonight.

Royals | Mike Moustakas sitting vs. Red Sox

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:18:07 -0700

Kansas City Royals 3B Mike Moustakas is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 21. OF Paulo Orlando draws into the lineup and is batting eighth, and 2B Ben Zobrist is filling in at third base and batting second against Boston Red Sox SP Henry Owens Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid the struggling Moustakas ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He owns a .196/.298/.375 slash line since the All-Star break and seasonal owners should be considering replacements. Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been a hitting machine since joining Kansas City and worth a look almost nightly at FantasyScore. He has a .357/.446/.600 slash line over 19 games with the Royals. Orlando ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is nothing more than a flier in daily contests, and you should be able to find better value in his price range at FantasyScore.
