Royals | Paulo Orlando collects three hits

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 23:27:29 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday, July 27.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando is locked in right now, going 12-for-30 (.400) over his last eight games. The problem is he has almost no power and modest speed. His high average provides him some value in AL-only leagues, but that's as far as it goes.

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 14:59:24 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs Tuesday, July 26. OF Paulo Orlando will start in center field, while OF Brett Eibner will start in right field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Eibner has gone hitless in each of his last five games and should not be used in any fantasy leagues.

Royals | Three-hit game for Paulo Orlando

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 21:29:31 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando went 3-for-4 with a run scored Saturday, July 23, against the Texas Rangers, raising his batting average to .323.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando has been a streaky hitter this season, and he is on another roll right now. Orlando has managed two or more hits in three of the past four games while hitting safely in nine of the past 11 outings. He is a must-start fantasy option in AL-only leagues, most rotisserie formats and DFS play at a mid-tier price.

Royals | Paulo Orlando out Friday

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 13:05:06 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 15, against the Detroit Tigers. OF Brett Eibner is in right field and will hit seventh against Tigers SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando doesn't have much pop with his bat (.317-1-18), but with 66 hits in just over 200 at-bats Orlando gives you average. That will help in some leagues as long as Orlando plays. This appears to be a normal off night. As for Eibner, his .304-3-10 line in 19 games may be enough to get him some daily recognition.

Royals | Alex Gordon, Jarrod Dyson resting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 10:26:45 -0700

Kansas City Royals OFs Alex Gordon and Jarrod Dyson are not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley Saturday, July 9. 2B/OF Whit Merrifield will bat leadoff and start in left field, INF Christian Colon will play second base and bat second, OF Paulo Orlando will bat sixth and play center field and OF Brett Eibner will hit seventh and start in right field.

Fantasy Tip: The Royals are only using one left-handed batter (1B Eric Hosmer) Saturday versus the southpaw Miley, which explains the absences of Gordon and Dyson from the lineup. Colon and Eibner should only be viewed as desperation sources of salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Royals | Brett Eibner sitting vs. Mariners

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 12:33:05 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Brett Eibner is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 8. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in right field and batting sixth against Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Eibner has upside (.490 slugging percentage through 54 plate appearances), but he isn't receiving enough playing time to be anything more than a cavernous mixed and AL-only option. Orlando is having a respectable season (.321 batting average with 16 runs and 18 RBI through 60 games) and should be owned in all cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Royals | Whit Merrifield, Paulo Orlando sitting

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:34:49 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Whit Merrifield and OF Paulo Orlando are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 5. 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and hitting second, while OF Brett Eibner is in right field and batting seventh against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup isn't a bad one, but both Colon and Eibner are low on the totem pole of deep sleeper considerations in daily formats. Colon is hitting .284 in limited at-bats but has yet to hit a homer in three seasons. Eibner has a home run and seven RBI in 40 at-bats.

Royals | Jarrod Dyson starting in center field

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 11:54:59 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson is back in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola, batting eighth and playing center field. OF Paulo Orlando is not in the lineup. In addition, DH/OF Kendrys Morales is starting in right field for the fourth consecutive game.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson is 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles over the past week and is 12-for-15 on stolen-base attempts this season. Morales has been starting in right field recently because the Royals have played their last few games in National League stadiums and are looking for a way to keep his bat in the lineup without having the use of a designated hitter.

Royals | Jarrod Dyson takes a seat

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 14:42:37 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 1. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in center field and is hitting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando is hitting .335 on the year, but has zero home runs and six RBI in 89 at-bats, which makes him not all that intriguing to fantasy owners outside of depth in cavernous mixed and AL-only universes. Against Hellickson tonight, he's a low-priced sleeper consideration.

Royals | Kendrys Morales back in right field

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 13:46:56 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Kendrys Morales is starting in right field and batting third against St. Louis Cardinals SP Mike Leake Thursday, June 30. OF Paulo Orlando is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Morales has been scorching hot in June with a .386/.440/.590 slash line, 14 runs, four home runs and 16 RBI. He should be owned in all seasonal leagues and started confidently while rolling offensively. Orlando is a low-end option in deep mixed formats, but a potential starter in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups given his respectable .337/.363/.436 slash line and semi-regular playing time.
