Royals | Kendrys Morales, Jarrod Dyson out

Sun, 22 May 2016 10:14:49 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales and OF Jarrod Dyson are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Sunday, May 22. C Salvador Perez will serve as the designated hitter, while C Drew Butera will start at catcher and is batting ninth. OF Paulo Orlando will start in right field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Butera has a decent batting average but has only has 12 at-bats on the season, so owners should be able to find better players for their lineups. Orlando should be a solid starting candidate in daily fantasy leagues because he is hitting .533 with one home runs and six RBI over the last seven days.

Royals | Three Royals out for Game 1

Wed, 18 May 2016 08:29:08 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez, 2B Omar Infante and OF Paulo Orlando are out for the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday, May 18. 2B Christian Colon, C Drew Butera and OF Jarrod Dyson are hitting in the final three spots in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Butera is 4-for-10 (.400) with three doubles on the season. He's a shot in the dark against knuckle-baller Steven Wright. Dyson has wheels, but he's hitting just .217. He and Colon aren't ripe DFS flyers today.

Royals | Paulo Orlando with big night

Tue, 17 May 2016 23:19:40 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando hit a homer, double and triple while driving in four runs Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: He's hitting .333 this season and looks to be ahead in the platoon with Jarrod Dyson. Orlando doesn't run much, but he has extra-base power. He hit seven homers, 14 doubles and six triples in 241 at-bats last season. He'll be an attractive DFS option on the cheap end.

Royals | Paulo Orlando could see more time

Fri, 13 May 2016 22:52:20 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando could see more playing time in the coming days in right field at the expense of OF Jarrod Dyson, according to manager Ned Yost. Dyson entered the game Friday, May 13, with a .215 average after hitting .125 so far in May. Dyson could play four times per week, with Orlando taking the other starts.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson's fantasy value is based on his ability to get on base and steal bags. Pegged for an everyday role in 2016, he was a must-own player in all leagues after stealing 26 bases in just 90 games with KC in 2015. Hitting at the bottom of the lineup and struggling to get on base, Dyson has proved pretty useless to owners so far, and his value is dropping now that he'll lose even more at-bats to Orlando. Only hang onto Dyson in deep mixed leagues if you're desperate for thefts.

Royals | Jarrod Dyson out, Paulo Orlando in

Mon, 02 May 2016 15:32:41 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson (rest) is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 2. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in his place in right field and batting ninth versus Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: With a southpaw on the hill, Dyson gets the night off, as Ned Yost typically elects to bench him when facing a left-hander. His replacement, Orlando, isn't a very inspiring choice to lean on, as he's registered a grand total of zero extra-base hits and zero walks in his first 30 plate appearances. Owners should probably look elsewhere for deep outfield assistance.

Royals | Paulo Orlando draws a start

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 14:50:18 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando is hitting ninth Saturday, April 30, in place of OF Jarrod Dyson.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando faces lefty Wade Miley. He has just one RBI but is hitting .296 on the season. He's a basement flyer worth consideration.

Royals | Lorenzo Cain resting against Halos

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 15:09:14 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Jarrod Dyson moves to center field, which allows OF Paulo Orlando to enter the starting lineup. Orlando is in right field and is batting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano.

Fantasy Tip: Tropeano has held his own so far at the major league level this year, making Orlando and Dyson low-end outfield plays in daily formats. Dyson should be owned in all fantasy formats for his speed, but he can struggle to reach base, and a low lineup position will make it hard for him to return daily value.

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 11:37:08 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Chris Bassitt Sunday, April 17. OF Reymond Fuentes will start in right field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Fuentes could be a cheap sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues since he has four hits and one RBI in his last two games.

Royals | Paulo Orlando set for uptick in playing time

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 14:47:32 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando will be the everyday right fielder because of his defense, manager Ned Yost said Thursday, April 14.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando is a low-end option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, as he owns a career .250/.264/.434 slash line. However, better than semi-regular at-bats in a solid lineup warrants owndership in those deep formats. Jarrod Dyson (oblique) will return from the disabled list soon, though, and the speedy outfield projects to cut into Orlando's playing time some.
