Royals | Paulo Orlando starting Friday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 14:30:31 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando is starting in right field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Friday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Orlando ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Jarrod Dyson ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are expected to split time in right field with Alex Rios (hand) on the disabled list. Orlando, like Dyson, gains his fantasy value from his speed, but it's mitigated hitting near the bottom of KC's lineup. Against Gray, too, Orlando should be considered a weak FantasyScore play.

Royals | Two Royals to split RF time

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 10:21:58 -0700

Kansas City Royals OFs Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando will split time in right field with OF Alex Rios (finger) on the disabled list, according to general manager Dayton Moore.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson stole 36 bases in 260 at-bats last year and should see the most time of the split. He'll only cost $2,400 (4.8% of your cap) on FantasyScore, and he'll be an attractive flyer when he's in there. Orlando ($1,600, 3.2%) has three hits in eight at-bats this year, and all of them were triples. He's one to watch over the next few days.

Royals | Alex Rios out 3-6 weeks

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 10:20:10 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Royals OF Alex Rios (finger) has a non-displaced fracture in his left pinkie. General manager Dayton Moore said Rios' timetable isn't clear, but he should be out between three and six weeks. OFs Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando will split time in Rios' absence.

Fantasy Tip: Dyson ($2,400, 4.8% of your cap) stole 36 bags in a half-season worth of at-bats last year. The 29-year-old Orlando ($1,600, 3.2%) hit .301 with six homers, 63 RBI and 34 steals in a full season at Triple-A last year. The left-handed hitting Dyson will likely play most of the time with Orlando likely to face lefties. Both are speculative flyers on FantasyScore for their wheels. Prospect OF Brett Eibner is unlikely to be called up.

Royals | Alex Gordon resting

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 09:46:23 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks Thursday, April 9. OF Paulo Orlando is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the lineup in Gordon's place.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has been slowly recovering from offseason wrist surgery. He's fine, but the Royals are looking to give him some rest early in the year so they don't overwork him. Orlando should be ignored in all fantasy formats.

Royals | Paulo Orlando to make MLB debut

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 19:03:43 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Paulo Orlando will make his major league debut Thursday, April 9, starting in left field in place of the resting OF Alex Gordon (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Orlando might see frequent playing time, especially in day games, as the Royals take it easy with Gordon and his wrist over the first month of the season. Orlando could be a cheap FantasyScore option for the outfield.
