Phillies | Odubel Herrera not playing Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:22:15 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera isn't in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13. OF Darin Ruf is starting in left field and hitting cleanup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano.

Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting only .188 (13-for-69) with two home runs and six RBI, although he is 6-for-18 (.333) with both of his dingers against southpaws in 2015. Still, Liriano is a nasty lefty arm that should give the weak-hitting Philly lineup trouble. He's also limited righties to a .112/.208/.224 slash line this year. Ruf is a weak play all things considered.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera returns to lineup

Mon, 11 May 2015 12:34:34 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is playing center field and batting sixth against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is in a 2-for-20 slump, so while his cap hit is still low, FantasyScore players should be able to find more upside in his price range. Herrera is likely best left to NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues in seasonal formats, too.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera not in lineup

Sun, 10 May 2015 08:24:48 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 10.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has only two hits in his last five games, so he is receiving a day off. Grady Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will take his place in the lineup but is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Freddy Galvis hitting second

Tue, 05 May 2015 14:21:57 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SS Freddy Galvis is hitting second in the batting order against Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller Tuesday, May 5. OF Odubel Herrera was dropped to sixth in the lineup as a result, with OF Ben Revere leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been one of Philly's more consistent hitters this year (.349-1-8), and a move to the top of the order makes him more attractive to FantasyScore users. However, he remains a sleeper play and doesn't have much power to speak of.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera continues to rake

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 22:51:14 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera had a pair of hits in five at-bats with an RBI Wednesday, April 29, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera has hit in 12 of his past 13 games, and Wednesday marked his sixth multi-hit game in the month of April. He also has at least one RBI (four total) over the past three games to make him a huge FantasyScore value at just $3,000 (or 6.0% of cap). Herrera has been even better against left-handed pitching, going 7-for-15 (.467) with a 1.200 OPS.

Phillies | Ben Revere hitting leadoff

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 11:33:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Ben Revere is starting in left field and hitting leadoff against Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood Friday, April 24. OF Odubel Herrera was dropped to the second spot in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Revere ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is just flopping spots with Herrera Friday night, so it's not a big lineup shakeup. Revere has disappointed his owners with his start to 2015, going 10-for-53 (.189) with four stolen bases. Despite hitting .341 (61-for-179) in 2014 against lefties, Revere is a weak FantasyScore option tonight against Wood.

Phillies | Darin Ruf, Jeff Francoeur starting

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 13:39:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OFs Darin Ruf and Jeff Francoeur are both in the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox and SP Rick Porcello Wednesday, April 8. Ruf is starting in left field and hitting fifth, while Francoeur is in right field and hitting seventh. SS Odubel Herrera and Grady Sizemore will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Francoeur ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will see occasional playing time in 2015 based on matchups for the Phils. Neither is a strong daily play Wednesday night against Porcello, though, unless you're looking to go cheap for an outfield spot to save money for the rest of your lineup.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera wins CF job

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 04:46:59 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera, a Rule 5 selection from December, will be the starting center fielder in Philadelphia this spring.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera made the team, sending Ben Revere over to left and Grady Sizemore over to right field. Domonic Brown is recovering from an Achilles' injury and Sizemore has had a bad spring, so further changes could be coming. If you have room on your NL roster to stash Herrera, take a pick and see what happens.

Thu, 12 Feb 2015 09:37:51 -0800

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera has a good chance to make the 25-man roster out of spring training. The team believes he can play in the outfield even though he played mostly in the infield while he was with the Texas Rangers.
