Atlanta Braves 3B Chris D. Johnson is out of the lineup for the second straight day Monday, April 14, but manager Fredi Gonzalez said Johnson will play the rest of the team's four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Johnson went hitless in three of his last four games, including two four-strikeout performances. "He's just fighting himself a little bit right now," hitting coach Greg Walker said. "We're trying to get him to get the fight back between him and the pitcher."
Fantasy Tip: It's concerning when a contact hitter like Johnson starts swinging and missing so much. We knew that Johnson was primed for regression this year, especially with his average, so continue to temper your expectations.

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez is leaning toward putting OF B.J. Upton second in the batting order and 3B Chris D. Johnson fourth. Upton has a .350 on-base percentage this spring and has stolen four bases in 18 spring games. Johnson only spent 56 of his 514 at-bats at cleanup last season. "I like Chris Johnson (at cleanup)," Gonzalez said. "He gives you good at-bats. And he's a guy that's not going to change his approach. He's going to put the ball in play. He uses the whole field and has some big at-bats."

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris D. Johnson (leg) was held out of the lineup Sunday, Sept. 1, against the Miami Marlins due to what manager Fredi Gonzalez said was "a little leg issue." Johnson was able to make a pinch-hitting appearance in the ninth inning.
Fantasy Tip: If you normally depend upon Johnson for fantasy purposes, his injury doesn't appear to be something which will hold him out for long. Keep him active.

Atlanta Braves OF Jason Heyward (undisclosed) left the ballgame Thursday, July 11. He was apparently reaching back toward his right hamstring.
Fantasy Tip: Not good -- any Heyward absence would mean more time for Joey Terdoslavich or Reed Johnson, though Evan Gattis (oblique), who's starting rehab soon, would be the one to benefit the most. Stay tuned.

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris D. Johnson said Tuesday, July 9, that he doesn't mind batting in the eighth spot of manager Fredi Gonzalez's order. "I don't mind at all, not one bit," Johnson said. "I would never tell the skipper what to do or to be asked to be moved up because the numbers say I deserve to be hitting higher. We've got a lot of good ballplayers on our team, and we're in firstp lace. If we were in last place, maybe you could start shuffling things around."
Fantasy Tip: Johnson entered play Tuesday with a .332 average in tow, ranking fourth in the National League among players with at least 250 plate appearances. He has emerged as a must-start option in all NL-only fantasy leagues, especially rotisserie formats, and he is getting attention in mixed play as well.

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris D. Johnson entered play Wednesday, July 3, leading the team in batting average while ranking second in on-base percentage. However, manager Fredi Gonzalez isn't interested in moving him from the eighth spot of the batting order. "It's been good to have him there," Gonzalez said. "I've been tempted to move him up a couple times. But it seems that hole comes up with people on base all the time, or at the very least you get the other manager thinking about whether you walk him."
Fantasy Tip: Johnson has emerged as a must-start in all NL-only fantasy leagues, and with a .330 batting average through 66 games, he is turning heads in mixed play as well, especially rotisserie formats.
