Marlins | Don Kelly draws into the lineup

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 12:51:35 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Don Kelly is starting at first base and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Monday, July 25. 1B Chris Johnson is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson had been receiving the majority of starts at first base with Justin Bour (ankle) out. Johnson's a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Similarly, Kelly is nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests Monday.

Marlins | Miguel Rojas leading off vs. Mets

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:24:21 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Miguel Rojas is starting at first base and leading off against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, July 24. 1B Chris Johnson is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Miami has been plugging in a number of bodies at first base with Justin Bour (ankle) on the disabled list, but Johnson has been the most frequent. Over the past three seasons, Johnson owns a .256/.289/.351 slash line, which doesn't move the fantasy needle outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Similarly, Rojas owns a career .596 OPS and doesn't warrant attention in any fantasy format, including daily contests Sunday.

Marlins | Chris Johnson starting vs. Phillies

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:48:50 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and batting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez Tuesday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: View Johnson as a desperation fantasy option in all settings Tuesday. He owns a .232/.267/.305 slash line against right-handed hurlers this season, and Velasquez has limited right-handed bats to a .659 OPS this year. Johnson does have a fleeting window of boosted fantasy value with Justin Bour (ankle) on the disabled list, though. But Johnson is still nothing more than a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Marlins | Three sitting out for Miami

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 10:03:12 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, OF Marcell Ozuna and 1B Chris Johnson are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Sunday, July 17. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in center field and is batting first. INF Don Kelly will start at first base and is batting sixth. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Ichiro has not received many starts over the last few weeks but does have a terrific .337 batting average this season. He should have some value in daily fantasy leagues. Kelly and Mathis can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Marlins | Don Kelly draws into lineup

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 11:35:41 -0700

Miami Marlins INF Don Kelly is starting at first base and is batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Dan Straily Friday, July 8. 1B Chris Johnson will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Kelly is hitless in three at-bats this year and has a career .231 average with 23 home runs in nine major league seasons. He's a desperation deep sleeper in DFS this evening.

Marlins | Martin Prado sitting out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 07:49:22 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with 3B Chris Johnson hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hitting .364 over the last week, so he has some low-end appeal. However, he's facing Jacob deGrom today, and it's not the best matchup for that low-end range.

Marlins | Justin Bour remains out Tuesday

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:49:58 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, July 5. 1B Chris Johnson is at first base again and is hitting sixth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson doesn't move the fantasy needle much. He's hitting .246/.294/.343 with only three homers and 12 RBI in 65 games and is a lukewarm daily pick against Matz. It's unknown how much longer Bour will be out, but he can be an asset in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for his power.

Marlins | Justin Bour out Monday

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 10:28:36 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (ankle) is out of the lineup Monday, July 4, with 1B Chris Johnson hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson would be worth basement consideration if a left-hander was on the mound. However, he's not a good DFS start against Matt Harvey.

Marlins | Justin Bour out Sunday

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 14:23:46 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour (ankle) is not in the lineup Sunday, July 3, against the Atlanta Braves. 1B Chris Johnson is batting seventh against Braves SP Matt Wisler.

Fantasy Tip: Bour is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury suffered on Saturday. Johnson has a .240-3-11 line with four hits in his last three games. He might be worth a low-flyer start in DFS leagues if you want to save a bit of money.

Marlins | Two Fish sit out

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 07:29:33 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with 1B Chris Johnson hitting sixth and C Jeff Mathis hitting ninth. OF Ichiro Suzuki is in at DH and leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hitting just .228 against lefties this season in what has been an ineffective year thus far. He has hit lefties well in the past, but he may be past it to use against lefty Daniel Norris. Suzuki is hitting .308 in 26 at-bats against lefties, and he's a really low-end option today. Mathis isn't worth consideration.
