Rangers | Yu Darvish's injury not long term

Fri, 15 Aug 2014 09:47:30 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (elbow) isn't dealing with a long-term injury, according to team doctor Keith Meister. Darvish will miss at least two starts while he's on the disabled list. "I'm not too concerned," Darvish said. "I'm just taking a precautionary measure. I'm competitive. I want to go out there and compete but at the same time, I'm thinking about my long-term situation. I don't want to go out there and risk my future. I don't want my elbow to aggravate. I think it's a good decision that I'm making right now." SP Robbie Ross, who was called up to take Darvish's place in the rotation, will remain in the rotation based on how well he pitches.

Fantasy Tip: You're definitely happy if you're a Darvish owner. It looks like he may not even miss more than two starts, and he should definitely be back before the end of the season. Continue stashing him.

Rangers | Yu Darvish back to the DL

Wed, 13 Aug 2014 16:27:02 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (elbow) is heading back to the disabled list with right elbow inflammation. SP Robbie Ross will start against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, Aug. 14. P Alex Claudio, who was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, will be in the bullpen for the Rangers Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: It's another tough break for the Rangers this year and for owners of Darvish. It's unclear exactly how serious his arm problem is until more tests are done. Hold onto him for now in all formats. Ross is worth considering in AL-only leagues, but you can find better starting pitching options in daily games.

Rangers | Robbie Ross demoted

Tue, 17 Jun 2014 20:41:13 -0700

Texas Rangers P Robbie Ross was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, and he will be used as a starter there to get more mound time and work between starts with Round Rock pitching coach Brad Holman. "We just feel like he needs consistent work," general manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday, June 17. "He has had periods where he struggled before but not to this degree. It feels like his mistakes have been costly and he hasn't been able to right the ship. His work ethic has been great. Robbie cares, but he has not been able to sort through it up here."

Rangers | Robbie Ross removed from rotation

Tue, 20 May 2014 14:29:49 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Robbie Ross is being removed from the starting rotation in favor of SP Scott Baker. Baker will start against the Detroit Tigers Friday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Ross can now be dumped in all but the deepest of AL-only setups. Baker is a veteran that shouldn't attract much interest unless you're desperate for a warm body in an AL-only league. His start Friday against the Tigers clearly isn't a good matchup.

Rangers | Robbie Ross being pushed back

Mon, 12 May 2014 20:48:43 -0700

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington is pushing SP Robbie Ross back. It isn't because of his 0-4 record and 7.76 ERA over his past five starts, but rather due to the fact Washington does not want to use SPs Matt Harrison and Colby Lewis in National League parks because of their past injuries.
