Sun, 05 May 2013 11:08:24 -0700 The Colorado Rockies have activated SP Jhoulys Chacin (back) and 1B Todd Helton (forearm) from the 15-day disabled list. In corresponding moves, SP Tyler Chatwood and INF Ryan Wheeler have been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Sun, 05 May 2013 00:55:58 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (back) will come off the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, May 5, to face the Tampa Bay Rays and SP Alex Cobb.
Thu, 02 May 2013 16:00:46 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (back, lat) is throwing a side session Thursday, May 2, and if he doesn't have any setbacks, he could start Sunday, May 5, when he's eligible to return from the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Chacin has been a risky proposition in mixed leagues because of injuries and inconsistency. He's more of a streaming option in deep mixed leagues when healthy until he proves more dominant and keeps the ball out of the air at Coors Field. Tyler Chatwood may be bumped from the rotation when Chacin returns.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 14:49:10 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (back, lat), who is dealing with a mild back strain and a strained lat muscle, played catch Tuesday, April 23, and thinks he can return to the rotation May 5, when he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Chacin wants to make his first rehab start April 30. Fantasy Tip: Chacin's injury doesn't seem very serious, so he's worth stashing in a DL spot until he can return. Tyler Chatwood is expected to take his spot in the starting rotation until then, but he should be left to NL-only universes.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 12:44:34 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin's (back) MRI exam confirmed a mid-back strain.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 20:18:56 -0700 Updating a previous report, the Colorado Rockies placed SP Jhoulys Chacin (back) on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, April 21, due to a left lower back strain. He suffered the injury Friday, April 19, and the move is retroactive to Saturday, April 20. The team recalled RP Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs in the corresponding move.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 19:20:48 -0700 Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (oblique) was examined Saturday, April 20, and he will have an MRI Monday, April 22, after leaving his start Friday, April 19. He said he is confident the injury is not to his left oblique, but he will not make his next scheduled start. Fantasy Tip: Reserve Chacin for the upcoming week, as even though he was feeling better, it sounds as if he will be skipped in the rotation. Drew Pomeranz might be a candidate to come up from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill in Wednesday, April 24, against the Braves, which is when Chacin was scheduled to go. Tyler Chatwood and Aaron Cook are two other candidates to fill in.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 10:54:12 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (oblique) underwent an MRI exam on his stiff left oblique Saturday, April 20, which he sustained during his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, April 19. He felt pain while throwing his 99th pitch of the evening and left after throwing one more pitch. Fantasy Tip: Chacin could land on the disabled list if MRI results reveal a strain or tear. SP Drew Pomeranz, currently pitching with Triple-A Colorado Springs, could replace him in the rotation if a DL stint is necessary, although another starter would not be needed until Wednesday, April 24.
Fri, 22 Mar 2013 13:38:57 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (back) was scratched from a split-squad game Friday, March 22, with back spasms he suffered a day earlier. The team said the move is purely precautionary, and he's still expected to start opening day April 1 against the Milwaukee Brewers. He has worked on his fastball-changeup combo this spring and has a 7.00 ERA in three spring starts. Fantasy Tip: Most of his work last season was skewed due to mechanical problems and a shoulder ailment. But his lack of dominance is a concern, especially at Coors Field. It's smart to be skeptical of Chacin for now, limiting him to mainly NL-only rosters.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 07:54:19 -0700 Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin will start on Opening Day.
