Nationals | Stephen Strasburg likes Citi Field

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 14:15:06 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg is 3-1 with a 1.97 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 32 innings in five career starts against the New York Mets at Citi Field. However, he gave up six runs (three earned) and walked three in his outing against the Mets on April 9. The Mets are hitting only .224 and averaging 3.7 runs while losing four of their last six games.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a bad start in 2015 (1-2, 4.88 ERA, 1.63 WHIP in four starts), Strasburg ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) won't come cheaply at FantasyScore. His good success against the Mets on the road should leave you optimistic, though, especially since they've been struggling. It's lining up to be a rebound outing for the Stras.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg loves Citi living

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 22:50:38 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg takes the ball for the start Thursday, April 30, against the New York Mets. He is 3-1 with a 1.97 ERA in five career starts at Citi Field, and he has held the Mets to a .171 opponent batting average.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg is a little pricy at $8,000 (or 16.0% of cap) in FantasyScore, especially considering he enters this game at 1-2 with a 4.88 ERA and 1.63 WHIP this season. However, facing the Mets in a place he has pitched well might just be the medicine to cure his ills.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg struggles in Miami

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 17:48:05 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings in a loss to the Miami Marlins Saturday, April 25, and he now has a 5.65 ERA in eight career starts at Marlins Park.

Fantasy Tip: In addition to his struggles in Miami, Strasburg ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) has been struggling in general this year. He has a 4.88 ERA, and opponents are hitting .317 against him. Until he strings together a couple of strong starts, it is tough to justify paying for him at FantasyScore.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg looks human

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 14:33:21 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg allowed six runs (three earned) and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the New York Mets Thursday, April 9, in his 2015 debut. Strasburg struck out five hitters and threw 68 of his 95 pitches for strikes in the outing.

Fantasy Tip: It was not the season debut that Strasburg ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) owners were hoping for. The good news is that only half of the six runs he allowed were unearned. Strasburg will be alright and should remain a strong FantasyScore option on days he's on the mound.

Nationals | Two pitchers may walk via free agency

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 04:31:58 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann and SP Stephen Strasburg may be allowed to leave the team via free agency. Because both pitchers received Tommy John surgery in the past, a risk of re-injury rises after around 400-600 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Both pitchers are still worth drafting in higher rounds of NL and mixed leagues for now. The Nationals are gambling down the road the pitchers may be more ineffective, but the current Nationals rotation may be one of the best baseball has seen in years.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg to pitch Saturday

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 07:31:17 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (ankle) is set to start Saturday, March 28, after missing two starts with an ingrown toenail and a sprained ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is a risky SP1 on FantasyScore early in the season because of his limitations this spring.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg making progress

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 07:15:58 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (ankle) said his ankle is feeling better and is expected to have a long toss session Sunday, March 22.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg still has a few weeks to prepare for the regular season, but owners should still monitor the situation. Strasburg should be ready for the start of the season and likely will be selected in one of the early rounds of drafts.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg to miss another start

Sat, 21 Mar 2015 14:53:48 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (ankle) will miss his start Sunday, March 22, after he sprained his left ankle in conditioning drills.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't appear serious, but he has missed two starts now to an ingrown toenail and the ankle. He has only logged 5 2/3 innings thus far, and he's going to be in a pinch to stretch out his arm to be ready for the season. He still has time to stretch out, but it's questionable whether he has enough time to work on stuff to be the frontline starter he can be off the bat. At $8,000 (16.0% of your cap), we're probably passing the first week on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg scratched Thursday

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 14:40:40 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (toe) will be scratched from his scheduled spring outing Thursday, March 12, due to an ingrown toenail. Instead, he'll see work in a minor league game.

Fantasy Tip: It's a minor setback for Strasburg. He'll be fine for opening day, and you should continue to consider him a top-10 fantasy starting pitcher in 2015 worthy of taking in the early rounds of drafts.
