The Cleveland Indians Ps Zach McAllister and Chen-Chang Lee, INF Cord Phelps and OF Trevor Crowe to minor league camp Thursday, March 22. McAllister and Phelps were optioned to Triple-A Columbus. SPs Jeanmar Gomez, Kevin Slowey and David Huff are competing for a rotation spot now.

Cleveland Indians 2B Cord Phelps picked a great time for his first major league home run, smashing a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th inning Sunday, June 19, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Phelps entered the game just 2-for-20 (.100) since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus June 8.

Cleveland Indians 2B Cord Phelps, who was not in the lineup Wednesday, June 15, against the Detroit Tigers, has just one hit through his first 14 at-bats. Manager Manny Acta said he needs to see more from Phelps before he can appropriately evaluate him. "It's very early to make a decision and an assessment on the kid," Acta said. "(It's his) first time in the big leagues, he's only played a few games. We have to see him more. He'll play (Thursday, June 16)."
