The Seattle Mariners activated OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, April 29, and optioned OF Carlos Peguero to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Updating a previous report, Seattle Mariners OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) joined Triple-A Tacoma for a rehab assignment Friday, April 26. In a best-case scenario, Saunders would rejoin the parent club Monday, April 29, according to manager Eric Wedge.

Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) left the game early with tightness in his right hamstring Monday, April 22, and manager Eric Wedge said Gutierrez may go on the disabled list. The team hopes to learn more about his injury Tuesday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Gutierrez to land on the DL when Michael Saunders (shoulder) is activated later this week. Endy Chavez should continue playing center field in the meantime. He should be owned in AL-only leagues.

Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez (legs) is not in the starting lineup against the Texas Rangers Sunday, April 21. He went 1-for-4 Saturday, April 20, but does not appear to be ready to play in consecutive games. Manager Eric Wedge hinted that Gutierrez could be placed on the disabled list when OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) is ready to return from the DL. "Down the road, if this keeps up it is," Wedge said. "We are trying to avoid it, but if this keeps up, I don't think we have many other options."

Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez (legs) is out of the lineup for the second straight day with stiffness in his legs Friday, April 19. "We're still trying to help him with his lower half," manager Eric Wedge said. "I think it's tough with his hips, where it gets a little bit out of line and that's where it affects his legs." Gutierrez could be used as a pinch hitter later in the game, though. The team may choose to part ways with OFs Raul Ibanez or Jason Bay when OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) returns from the disabled list next week instead of risking OF Endy Chavez to waivers.

Fantasy Tip: The Mariners would probably prefer to keep Chavez around just because Gutierrez has had trouble staying on the field. Saunders can play center field, too, if Chavez is placed on waivers. The bottom line is that Bay and Ibanez will lose out on playing time when Saunders returns.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Wednesday, April 17, that OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) had a good workout, and he might be back when he is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list April 26. Saunders has resumed swinging the bat.

Seattle Mariners OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) is dealing with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. He's relieved that he didn't do more damage to a previous shoulder injury that needed surgery in 2008. "It's going to be a couple weeks at least so we had to put him on the DL, and trust me he didn't want to go on the DL. He's got that hockey player mentality," manager Eric Wedge said.

The Seattle Mariners have placed OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list because of a shoulder injury. In a corresponding move, the team purchased the contract of OF Endy Chavez from Triple-A Tacoma.
