Blue Jays | Michael Saunders out until Friday

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:28:05 -0700

Updating a previous post, Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee) will be out of the lineup Wednesday, May 6, to rest his knee. The Blue Jays are off Thursday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will get three days off to bring his knee back up to speed, so do not put him in your lineup for Tuesday or Wednesday.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders not in lineup Tuesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:13:37 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee) is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, May 5.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) had his knee drained, and the Yankees are throwing righthander Michael Pineda, so that's a double reason for Saunders to be on the sidelines. Take him out of your lineup for Tuesday and keep an eye on his condition.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders having knee drained

Mon, 04 May 2015 13:37:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee) is having fluid in his knee drained Monday, May 4, and is not in the starting lineup, according to general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Saunders will be available off the bench, though. OF Ezequiel Carrera is starting in right field and hitting ninth in the batting order against New York Yankees SP Chase Whitley.

Fantasy Tip: Carrera is a weak FantasyScore play tonight against the Yankees, especially while hitting at the bottom of the lineup.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders sitting against lefty

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:32:35 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 30. OF Danny Valencia is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order against Cleveland Indians SP T.J. House.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has been hitting well in the early going, batting .455 (10-for-22), and his placement near the middle of this potent lineup shouldn't be overlooked today. It also should be noted that Valencia has excelled against lefties in his career, batting .333 against them. House has been roughed up often in 2015, too.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders returning Saturday

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:39:51 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee) is expected to make his season debut against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Take a wait-and-see approach with Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) in the majority of formats, as he could be a little rusty initially. However, there is upside in the potent Toronto lineup, and Saunders boasts a nice power-speed combo. In deep mixed leagues, he could be worth a speculative grab if you need outfield help.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista returning Monday?

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 10:15:39 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) is hoping that he can serve as the designated hitter by Monday, April 27. OF Michael Saunders (knee) will not join the team Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) might sit out this weekend to rest his troublesome shoulder. Danny Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is likely to benefit the most until Saunders returns from the disabled list this weekend. Valencia, though, is a low-end third base option that can probably be ignored by daily gamers.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders could return Friday

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 13:27:33 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee) could come off the disabled list and immediately enter the starting lineup Friday, April 24, according to manager John Gibbons.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) can be a useful weapon in the powerful Toronto lineup against right-handed pitchers. In 2014, Saunders hit .276 (47-for-170) with all eight of his home runs against righties. His return will lower the value of Kevin Pillar in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders not ready yet

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:03:34 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee, hamstring) will rest again Friday, April 17, and then serve as the designated hitter for Single-A Dunedin Saturday, April 18. He will not rejoin the Blue Jays on their current home stand.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) could return to the Blue Jays late next week if everything goes according to plan. When he's back, he could be in a platoon situation with Kevin Pillar in left field. Saunders will be a FantasyScore option mainly against right-handed pitchers.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders still on the shelf

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 21:42:40 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee, hamstring) missed his third straight minor-league rehab game with Class A Advanced Dunedin Wednesday, April 15, due to a right hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders is down on the farm rehabbing a left knee injury, and now he has a hammy to deal with, too. It appears he is a ways off from helping FantasyScore owners at this point.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders has tight hammy

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 10:25:52 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders (knee, hamstring) was removed from a minor league rehab game as a precaution with a tight right hamstring Monday, April 13. Saunders had a single in his only at-bat.

Fantasy Tip: This technically counts as a setback for Saunders ($2,200, 4.4% of cap), but it doesn't seem too serious, and he could be back in Toronto very shortly. Once he returns, Kevin Pillar ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will likely see his already limited FantasyScore value plummet.
