Royals | Three Royals may have success Friday

Fri, 20 May 2016 15:32:54 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain, 1B Kendrys Morales and C Salvador Perez have all had some success in the last five years against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana, who they face Friday, May 20. Cain is hitting .319 with three RBI in 47 at-bats, Morales is hitting .308 with a home run and five RBI in 26 at-bats and Perez is hitting .378 with two long balls and eight RBI in 45 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Cain and Perez are must-start guys in all traditional formats and are likely popular plug-ins in daily lineups, too. However, Morales has been one of the bigger disappointments with just five home runs and a .195/.252/.336 line in 40 games. Keep in mind Quintana is not the same pitcher he's been in recent seasons, so all three hitters tonight could struggle. Morales is certainly one to avoid.

Royals | Lorenzo Cain belts three homers

Tue, 10 May 2016 22:45:17 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain finished 3-for-5 with three home runs and five RBIs Tuesday, May 10, against the New York Yankees. Cain tied a career high with the five RBIs. "I had a good night," Cain said, "but at the end of the day we lost."

Fantasy Tip: Cain entered the game with two home runs, so don't expect this type of outburst on a regular basis. Still, he is hitting .270 with 15 RBIs and he is a solid No. 4 or 5 fantasy outfielder across most formats and DFS play.

Royals | Lorenzo Cain resting against Halos

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 15:09:14 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Jarrod Dyson moves to center field, which allows OF Paulo Orlando to enter the starting lineup. Orlando is in right field and is batting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano.

Fantasy Tip: Tropeano has held his own so far at the major league level this year, making Orlando and Dyson low-end outfield plays in daily formats. Dyson should be owned in all fantasy formats for his speed, but he can struggle to reach base, and a low lineup position will make it hard for him to return daily value.

Fantasy Tip: Cain hit .307 (169-for-551) with 16 home runs and 28 stolen bases and remains a 20-20 threat with the Royals. That makes him an early-round candidate for one of your outfield spots in fantasy leagues again next season.

Royals | Lorenzo Cain's hitting streak intact

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 10:02:02 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain extended his playoff hitting streak to a franchise-best 12 straight games in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series Monday, Oct. 19. The all-time playoff record is 17 straight games set by Manny Ramirez, Hank Bauer and Derek Jeter.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to argue going against Cain ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) on FantasyScore while he's in the zone offensively. However, he has only two hits and four strikeouts in nine career at-bats against the Game 4 starter, R.A. Dickey.
