Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:54:37 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers 3B Taylor Green (hip) will undergo hip surgery to remove bone spurs that were causing an impingement. Green will be out for six months. Fantasy Tip: Green will be out for the rest of the season, so you can obviously drop him in all redraft leagues.

Thu, 28 Feb 2013 10:35:28 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he has talked with SS Jeff Bianchi and 3B Donnie Murphy about the possibility of playing in the outfield during spring training to see if they can play those positions. Roenicke said the team will not use 3B Taylor Green in the outfield because they see him as an infielder because of his lack of speed. All three players are competing for a spot on the opening day roster.

The Brewers will first examine their internal options to play first base with 1B Mat Gamel (knee) out for the year and 1B Corey Hart (knee) to miss the start of the season. Milwaukee's internal options are INFs Taylor Green, Hunter Morris and Alex Gonzalez. If the team isn't satisfied with those options, they could look at a free agent on a minor league deal.

"Nothing too, too huge, but definitely something people will notice," Green said. "Nothing too crazy, though. Basically, I want to get my front foot down earlier. A lot of time, I'm coming (off the bench) facing a hard thrower, and the idea is to shorten it up and use the whole field."
