The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up Ps Jeff Locke and Justin Wilson and C Eric Fryer from Triple-A Indianapolis. They have also selected the contracts of P Chris Leroux and INF Brock Holt from Indianapolis.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke, who could be among the first wave of September call-ups, could take the rotation spot of recently released SP Erik Bedard. The Pirates outrighted 1B Jeff Clement to Single-A Bradenton and sent SS Chase d'Arnaud to Bradenton as well. However, both players will return to the majors Monday, Sept. 3. C Eric Fryer and P Justin Wilson are expected to be recalled this weekend, too. 3Bs Yamaico Navarro and Matt Hague and Ps Chris Leroux, Evan Meek and Bryan Morris are other possibilities.

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled RP Daniel McCutchen from Triple-A Indianapolis and activated RP Chad Qualls from the bereavement list Tuesday, Aug. 21. Ps Kyle McPherson and Justin Wilson were optioned to Indy in corresponding moves.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Kevin Correia has been tabbed to start against the San Diego Padres Monday, Aug. 20, one day after throwing two innings of relief in the team's 19-inning marathon. Ps Kyle McPherson and Justin Wilson were also recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to provide relief help. RP Juan Cruz was designated for assignment and SS Jordy Mercer was put on the paternity list in corresponding moves.

The Pittsburgh Pirates dangles SP Justin Wilson when they made it known to the Kansas City Royals that they were interested in DH Billy Butler. This swap appears to be a long-shot, but the Royals might consider using Wilson as a long-term closing option.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Justin Wilson was named International League Pitcher of the Week Monday, April 30, since he worked 7 1/3 innings of the team's no-hitter Sunday, April 29, for Triple-A Indianapolis. He was pulled after 107 pitches, as it was just the second time he worked into the eighth inning in 78 minor league starts.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with 25 players for the 2012 season, meaning that all of the players on their 40-man roster are now under contract. OFs Gorkys Hernandez, Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Alex Presley, INFs Chase d'Arnaud, Matt Hague, Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer, Yamaico Navarro, Gustavo Nunez and Neil Walker, C Mike McKenry and Ps Jared Hughes, Chris Leroux, Brad Lincoln, Jeff Locke, Daniel McCutchen, James McDonald, Kyle McPherson, Bryan Morris, Daniel Moskos, Rudy Owens, Tony Watson, Duke Welker and Justin Wilson agreed to terms Saturday, March 3.
