Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake picked up his first victory in eight starts this season in a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. He struck out a season-high six and retired 14 in a row after 3B Juan Francisco homered in the second inning.

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Francisco may see as many as 300 at-bats in the 2012 season, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. The Braves are being careful with 3B Chipper Jones (knee), who sat out two games this week. In those games Francisco was 4-for-10 with a homer and four RBIs.

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Francisco hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the eighth inning Tuesday, April 17, against the New York Mets. It was his first homer with his new team.

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Francisco will make his debut with the team at third base Saturday, April 7, in the team's second game of the season. OF Matt Diaz started in left field and OF Martin Prado received the start at the hot corner Thursday, April 5. Francisco is slated to play third against right-handed pitchers and against some lefties. He hit .343 (72-for-210) with 30 extra-base hits (10 homers) against righties at Class AAA last year with the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds have acquired RP J.J. Hoover from the Atlanta Braves, in exchange for 3B Juan Francisco. Hoover will be added to the 40-man roster and will be sent to Triple-A Louisville.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Juan Francisco (calf) will play in the field in the team's spring game Wednesday, March 7, after he served as the designated hitter Tuesday, March 6.

The Cincinnati Reds are not happy with 3B Juan Francisco's (calf) offseason conditioning, as he showed up to camp 10 to 12 pounds overweight. Manager Dusty Baker mentioned that Francisco is clearly behind the other players due to his injury.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Juan Francisco (calf) participated in workouts for the first time this spring Friday, March 2, and he said he feels 100 percent. He is hoping to be called upon to serve as the backup to 3B Scott Rolen.
