Toronto Blue Jays 1B Adam Lind (foot) has a fracture in his foot, and he's expected to miss six to eight weeks. He will go for a second opinion.
Fantasy Tip: Lind will land on the DL, obviously. He was hitting .320 but with only four homers this season. With Edwin Encarnacion also out, Juan Francisco will likely see the majority of starts at first base. Francisco should already be owned in the majority of leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said 3B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) will play second base against right-handed pitchers when he returns from hamstring tightness so that the team can keep 3B Juan Francisco's bat in the lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie started at second base Friday, May 2, so the team could use 1B Juan Francisco at third base. Manager John Gibbons indicated the team could continue to use Lawrie until the team returns home Wednesday, May 7.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed 1B Adam Lind (back) on the 15-day disabled list because of a back injury and recalled 1B Juan Francisco from Triple-A Buffalo. The team also transferred 2B Maicer Izturis (knee) to the 60-day disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Francisco may get most of the playing time while Lind is out of the lineup and should be an option for most AL-only owners.

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Juan Francisco was pulled from his game with Triple-A Buffalo Friday, April 18, and is expected to be called up because of the injury to 1B Adam Lind (back).

The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping 1B Adam Lind (back) can avoid a trip to the disabled list, but he hasn't looked much better two days after suffering a lower back injury, and he has been walking around gingerly. The team will wait at least another day before making a decision. 1Bs Dan Johnson or Juan Francisco would be promoted from Triple-A Buffalo if Lind is put on the shelf, and the designated hitter would turn into a platoon with the likes of C Dioner Navarro and OF Colby Rasmus.
Fantasy Tip: Both Johnson and Francisco are intriguing for AL-only managers for their power, but Francisco is younger and has more upside.

The Toronto Blue Jays signed free-agent 1B Juan Francisco (Brewers) to a minor league deal Tuesday, April 1.

The Milwaukee Brewers requested waivers on 1B Juan Francisco after he did not win the first base job this spring. He hit .346 with three home runs and six RBIs in camp but lost the job to 1Bs Lyle Overbay and Mark Reynolds.
Fantasy Tip: It's probably only a matter of time before another team takes a chance on Francisco. Because of his poor defense at first base, Francisco would ideally land in the American League and be a candidate for the DH spot.
