Pirates | Gregory Polanco out vs. Miami

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:30:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Chris Narveson Wednesday, Aug. 26. 3B Josh Harrison is starting in right field and hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has been quiet since his return from the DL, but this is the exact type of matchup that could get him going -- a soft-tossing, hittable lefty. Harrison has good marks against southpaws this year, too (.292/.356/.385).

Pirates | Neil Walker takes a seat

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:50:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Brad Hand Tuesday, Aug. 25. 3B Josh Harrison is starting at the keystone and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is fresh off returning from the DL this week, so many daily gamers may be avoiding him. You shouldn't; Harrison has a slash line of .306/.371/.403 in 62 at-bats against lefties this year.

Pirates | Aramis Ramirez draws out of the lineup

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 13:40:12 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 24. SS Jordy Mercer is starting at shortstop and batting eighth with SS Jung Ho Kang sliding over to play third base and bat fourth against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Monday. 2B Josh Harrison is not in the starting lineup Monday, either.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ramirez ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. Expect the Pirates to split up starts among their infielders, which slightly caps all their seasonal value. Mercer ($2,400, 4.8% of cap), Kang ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and Neil Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) will also receive some games off. For FantasyScore contests Monday, Kang is the more attractive shortstop option.

Pirates | Josh Harrison out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 13:43:24 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 23, against the San Francisco Giants. 3B Aramis Ramirez is batting fourth against Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) just came off the disabled list earlier this week, so this might be the team's way of keeping him refreshed by sitting him. He has been pressing with no hits in five at-bats. Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is 9-for-27 with a .333 average against Vogelsong, so feel free to play him in FantasyScore.

Pirates | Josh Harrison playing third base

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 11:22:26 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates INF Josh Harrison will bat sixth and play third base against San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake Saturday, Aug. 22. 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is 6-for-22 with a double and a home run in his career against Leake. He is hitless in two at-bats since returning from the disabled list with a thumb injury.

Pirates | Josh Harrison leading off in return

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 13:46:27 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison is hitting leadoff after being activated from the disabled list Friday, Aug. 21. He is facing San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is facing a tough matchup in his first game back, but he does have nice numbers against lefties this year (.322/.379/.424). Play him at your own risk tonight on FantasyScore, but the safe move would be to ignore him in his first game back.

Pirates | Josh Harrison activated from DL

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 12:04:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (thumb) was activated from the disabled list Friday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) to return to a super-utility role and start all over the field. The addition of Aramis Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) paired with the solid play of Jung Ho Kang ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and Gregory Polanco ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) of late will allow the Pirates to ease Harrison back into the fold. Harrison's return will provide a few extra rest days for a number of Pirates, but it shouldn't been seen a significant hit to the seasonal value of anyone. Harrison is worth owning in the majority of leagues.

Pirates | Josh Harrison could play 2B

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 11:59:50 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison could play second base against left-handed pitchers like he is Friday, Aug. 21, according to manager Clint Hurdle.

Fantasy Tip: This arrangement means Neil Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) will see a bit less playing time, as well as Aramis Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) anytime Harrison is playing third. In Harrison's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) first game off the DL he draws a tough assignment against Giants ace Madison Bumgarner. It could be tough for Harrison to return any considerable value tonight.

Pirates | Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer returning soon

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 14:04:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison (thumb) and SS Jordy Mercer (knee) could both come off the disabled list during the upcoming series against the San Francisco Giants, according to manager Clint Hurdle.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should be immediately returned to all starting lineups when he's back in there, and he should go back to being the team's starting third baseman. Aramis Ramirez could struggle to find playing time as a result. Mercer ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) could platoon at shortstop with Jung Ho Kang, who has performed well in Mercer's absence.

Pirates | Josh Harrison timeline update

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 13:25:06 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (thumb) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Indianapolis Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) last played Sunday, July 5, so expect him to ease his way back into the lineup when he is recalled. Plus, the Pirates added Aramis Ramirez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap), and Gregory Polanco ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has been faring better of late. Harrison thrived in a utility role in 2014, so perhaps returning to a similar gig will help him finish strong this year, too. Continue to check back for updates on Harrison's recovery.
