Pirates | Josh Harrison continues strong play

Wed, 20 May 2015 20:42:46 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison went 3-for-6 against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has picked up 18 hits in his last eight games and has seen his batting average rise to .255. Harrison could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore while he is on this hot streak.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco out of Wednesday lineup

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:44:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 20, against the Minnesota Twins. The move triggered a chain reaction, as 3B Josh Harrison took Polanco's spot in right field, SS Jung-Ho Kang moved over to third and SS Jordy Mercer is playing shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is struggling mightily in the past 10 games with a .161 batting average. Wednesday's benching is also due in part to Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey being on the mound. Still, Polanco is losing his fantasy value at this high price. Don't be surprised to see this more often if Polanco struggles.

Pirates | Josh Harrison has solid day at plate

Fri, 15 May 2015 17:47:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison went 4-for-6 with one home run and one RBI against the Chicago Cubs Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been off to a terrible start to the season but has nine hits in his last four games. Harrison may still be a risky option on FantasyScore because of the start to his season, but he could be an option if he continues his solid play.

Pirates | Josh Harrison dropped to seventh

Fri, 15 May 2015 08:48:46 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison was dropped to seventh in the order Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has struggled with a .175 average in 40 May at-bats, but he's actually hitting .353 the last week. He's at a decent price on FantasyScore, but he has much more luster at leadoff or in the two-hole.

Pirates | Jung-Ho Kang starting at 3B

Thu, 14 May 2015 09:13:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SS Jung-Ho Kang is starting at third base and hitting sixth in the batting order against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Thursday, May 14. 3B Josh Harrison is playing left field with OF Andrew McCutchen taking a day off.

Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has two home runs and nine RBI and is hitting .309 (17-for-55) in limited duty. He has surprising pop for a shortstop and could be a low-end play that pays off against the soft-tossing Harang on a day without a full slate of games.

Pirates | Josh Harrison batting first

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:58:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison will be batting leadoff against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is at the top of the lineup since Gregory Polanco is sitting out. Harrison was able to hit a three-run home run in his last game but is still hitting only .091 this month. Owners on FantasyScore should avoid using Harrison until he is more productive at the plate.

Pirates | No Josh Harrison vs. Phillies

Mon, 11 May 2015 12:59:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is sporting a .173/.209/.282 slash line to date, and bust sirens are blaring. Harrison was an out-of-nowhere breakout hitter in 2014, but he has failed to generate the same success so far in 2015. Fantasy owners don't need to show loyalty to the struggling Pirate, especially in traditional mixed leagues. In deep mixed and NL-only formats his leash is a little longer.

Pirates | Josh Harrison out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 13:48:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 9, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been a major disappointment to open the season as he's hitting for just a .178 batting average and is yet to steal a base after swiping 18 last season. Harrison is worth holding onto for a little while longer in hopes that his .198 BABIP will rebound, but he's far removed from FantasyScore consideration for the time being.

Pirates | Josh Harrison dropped in order

Wed, 06 May 2015 11:50:54 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison was dropped to seventh in the batting order Wednesday, May 6. 2B Neil Walker is in the two-hole against Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) hasn't been able to put it together this year after a breakout in 2015. He's hitting just .188 (18-for-96) with two home runs and six RBI. His owners are hoping a drop in the order can jump start him, but you'll probably want to stay away from him until that happens. Walker ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is an intriguing player for FantasyScore rosters today in the two-hole, and he's hitting .262 (11-for-42) with a home run and 12 RBI in his career against Leake. He has value play written all over him.

Pirates | Josh Harrison slumping hard

Tue, 05 May 2015 18:39:43 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison was held out of the lineup Tuesday, May 5, against the Cincinnati Reds. Harrison is hitless over his past 10 at-bats, and he has one hit over his past 23 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison was a breakout player last season, but so far this season he has struggled to earn his $3,900 (or 7.8% of cap) FantasyScore salary most nights.
