Pirates | Gregory Polanco out again

Wed, 27 May 2015 09:24:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is out of the lineup again Wednesday, May 27. 3B Josh Harrison moves to right field and is hitting leadoff against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand, while SS Jung Ho Kang starts at third base again.

Fantasy Tip: Both Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) have been swinging hot bats of late, and both are solid FantasyScore options against Hand, who is making a spot start for the Fish. For that matter, stacking your daily lineups with Pirates hitters isn't a bad idea today.

Tue, 26 May 2015 20:59:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison went 2-for-4 with one RBI against the Miami Marlins Tuesday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games and has at least two hits in seven of those games. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Harrison in their lineup during his hot streak.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco not playing

Tue, 26 May 2015 15:18:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 26. 3B Josh Harrison moves to right field, and SS Jung Ho Kang is starting at third base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP Jose Urena.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitting .192 (14-for-73) with no homers and five RBI this month while striking out 16 times. He's a weak play until he shows signs of life. Both Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) could be excellent value plays tonight against Urena, who is making his big league starting debut.

Pirates | Neil Walker on the bench

Sun, 24 May 2015 09:39:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. 3B Josh Harrison will take his place at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has struggled as a right-handed hitter, so he is receiving the day off. Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been on a hot streak and should be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Pirates | Josh Harrison extends hitting streak

Sat, 23 May 2015 18:06:02 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison extended his hitting streak to 10 games by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base in an 8-2 win over the New York Mets Saturday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has raised his average from .173 to .261 during the streak, driving in seven runs and scoring nine. His price tag at FantasyScore won't break the bank, and you may want to jump on the Harrison bandwagon while he is swinging a hot bat.

Pirates | Gregory Polanco out of Wednesday lineup

Wed, 20 May 2015 12:44:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is out of the starting lineup Wednesday, May 20, against the Minnesota Twins. The move triggered a chain reaction, as 3B Josh Harrison took Polanco's spot in right field, SS Jung-Ho Kang moved over to third and SS Jordy Mercer is playing shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is struggling mightily in the past 10 games with a .161 batting average. Wednesday's benching is also due in part to Twins right-hander Mike Pelfrey being on the mound. Still, Polanco is losing his fantasy value at this high price. Don't be surprised to see this more often if Polanco struggles.

Pirates | Josh Harrison has solid day at plate

Fri, 15 May 2015 17:47:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison went 4-for-6 with one home run and one RBI against the Chicago Cubs Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been off to a terrible start to the season but has nine hits in his last four games. Harrison may still be a risky option on FantasyScore because of the start to his season, but he could be an option if he continues his solid play.

Pirates | Josh Harrison dropped to seventh

Fri, 15 May 2015 08:48:46 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Josh Harrison was dropped to seventh in the order Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has struggled with a .175 average in 40 May at-bats, but he's actually hitting .353 the last week. He's at a decent price on FantasyScore, but he has much more luster at leadoff or in the two-hole.

Pirates | Jung-Ho Kang starting at 3B

Thu, 14 May 2015 09:13:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SS Jung-Ho Kang is starting at third base and hitting sixth in the batting order against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Thursday, May 14. 3B Josh Harrison is playing left field with OF Andrew McCutchen taking a day off.

Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has two home runs and nine RBI and is hitting .309 (17-for-55) in limited duty. He has surprising pop for a shortstop and could be a low-end play that pays off against the soft-tossing Harang on a day without a full slate of games.
