All of their stints are retroactive to March 26. RP Andrew Bailey (thumb), OF Ryan Kalish (shoulder) and SP Christopher Carpenter (elbow) were placed on the 60-day DL.

The Red Sox had complete access to Carpenter's medical records and he passed two physicals - one from the Cubs and one from the Red Sox - before the deal was finalized.

There is speculation that Epstein may be trying to pry general manager Jed Hoyer away from the San Diego Padres. The Cubs and Red Sox are still trying to agree on compensation for Epstein, with the Red Sox trying to replenish their pitching in the minors. The BoSox are believed to be targeting Ps Trey McNutt and Christopher Carpenter.
