"It feels better now than it did (in December)," Hanson said. "I'm definitely a lot more optimistic now than I was even last month." Hanson played long toss without any problems Thursday, Feb. 2.

He is resting and rehabbing his injuries this offseason and is confident he will be at full strength in spring training. Hanson will start playing "light" catch this week and thinks he will increase the intensity of his sessions after the New Year. "If I had to go (to spring training) right now, I think I would feel pretty confident," Hanson said. "I don't think it will be a problem. I think the biggest thing for me was the rest. Then once I started strengthening it, it felt a lot better." He has focused on strengthening his back and shoulder muscles this offseason.
Tue, 06 Dec 2011 09:20:20 -0800 The Atlanta Braves said SP Tim Hudson (back) will be ready for spring training after undergoing surgery to fix a herniated disc in his back, but Hudson is not so optimistic that he'll be ready. In addition to Hudson, SP Tommy Hanson (shoulder) is coming off shoulder issues, so the team may be hesitant to trade SP Jair Jurrjens even if they receive a significant package in return.
