Atlanta Braves RP Craig Kimbrel might not be available to pitch Wednesday, May 8, because manager Fredi Gonzalez doesn't want to pitch Kimbrel for three days in a row this early in the year. Kimbrel has blown three of his last five save chances. He was an out away from his 100th career save Tuesday, May 7, before allowing a home run to the Cincinnati Reds. "It is what it is," Gonzalez said. "At the end of the year, (Kimbrel's) going to have 40-something saves and five blown saves or four blown saves. It just so happens he's getting them right here in a little bunch. No worries." Kimbrel's ERA has risen from 0.00 to 3.38 in his last five outings.

Fantasy Tip: As Gonzalez noted, there is no closer controversy with Kimbrel, he's just hit a little rough patch. Atlanta also has no clear candidate to take over the closer's role regardless. Eric O'Flaherty or Jordan Walden would likely close if a save situation arises Wednesday.

Atlanta Braves RP Craig Kimbrel blew his first save of the season against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, April 24, by allowing three hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out two.

Fantasy Tip: There's nothing to worry about here. Kimbrel proved he's human, after all, and the Rockies are one of the hottest teams in baseball, aside from the Braves.

Atlanta Braves RP Craig Kimbrel worked a perfect inning in his Grapefruit League spring appearance Monday, March 18. It was his first action since returning from the World Baseball Classic. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Kimbrel stayed on a normal schedule during his time with Team USA and appears ready for the regular season.

Atlanta Braves RP Craig Kimbrel recorded his first-career four-out save against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, Sept. 5, and he's willing to work more appearances like that in the future. "The role of the closer isn't just go out there and get three outs. It's go out there and finish the game whenever you're asked to come in," said Kimbrel. He's only thrown 50 1/3 innings this year compared to 68 2/3 frames at this same point last season.
