The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting the New York Yankees will not use a six-man pitching rotation to offset the glut of candidates it has for the fifth pitcher spot. In addition to SPs Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes, other available candidates are SP's Chad Gaudin, Sergio Mitre and Alfredo Aceves.

Ken Rosenthal, of FOXSports.com, reports a rival executive thinks the New York Yankees should keep both Ps Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes in the bullpen next year and have P Chad Gaudin serve as the fifth starter. If they choose to keep Chamberlain and Hughes in the bullpen, the team is far less likely to use RP Alfredo Aceves as their fifth starter, according to a source with knowledge of the team's thinking.

RP Chad Gaudin threw 50 pitches, RP Alfredo Aceves threw 30, RP David Robertson threw 20, RP Phil Coke threw 20 and RP Damaso Marte threw 15.
