Mon, 26 Dec 2011 06:26:04 -0800 Boston Red Sox pitching coach Bob McClure said he thinks putting RPs Daniel Bard and Alfredo Aceves in the rotation will improve their stuff in the bullpen. McClure implemented a similar strategy with RPs Kyle Farnsworth and Joakim Soria in 2007 with the Kansas City Royals. "I think it made (Farnsworth) a better pitcher," McClure said. "He had more pitches. He was more comfortable with runners on. We worked on his pickoff move. We worked on holding runners. I think all of those things, combined, made him overall a better pitcher."

"To be honest with you, the way things are going, he should be starting. It's as simple as that," Ortiz said. "I think at one point, he might be a starter. It all depends what the front office decides, but he's got good stuff, and we definitely need a guy that can come in and give us six or seven good innings. He seems like he's capable to do it, so we'll see."

I don't know how you replace him in the bullpen."
