Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy, Ryan Braun out vs. Cards

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 15:45:54 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) and C Jonathan Lucroy (concussion) are not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. OF Logan Schafer is batting second and C Nevin Ashley is hitting eighth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) and Lucroy ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) are desperation owns in seasonal formats at this stage of the game. They're not playing consistently, and they're both battling injuries. Similar, Schafer ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) and Ashley ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) are desperation starts at FantasyScore Friday, as Martinez ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) presents a daunting matchup.

Brewers | Ryan Braun still out of the lineup

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 13:50:18 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. OF Logan Schafer is starting in center field and batting second against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Braun's ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) status is up in the air at this point, and he has now missed five consecutive games. Seasonal owners needing immediate help shouldn't fret cutting ties and replacing Braun. It appears unlikely he finishes the season as an everyday player. With a .591 OPS over his past 260 games, Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

Brewers | Ryan Braun sitting vs. Cubs

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 12:23:40 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 21. OF Logan Schafer is starting in center field and batting second against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is dealing with a nagging back injury, and he could miss substantial time down the stretch or even be shut down. At this point of the year, it isn't out of the question to replace the veteran in seasonal leagues in favor of a more reliable contributor. Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier at FantasyScore Monday.

Brewers | Ryan Braun out with back tightness

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 13:58:02 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) was a late scratch because of lower back tightness Wednesday, Sept. 16. OF Logan Schafer draws into the lineup and is batting eighth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Braun ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. It is unfortunate because he is a high-end batter against lefties. Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) rarely receives the starting nod, so FantasyScore players should approach him similarly. He is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief Wednesday. Make sure to check back for updates on the severity of Braun's injury.

Brewers | Domingo Santana sitting vs. Pittsburgh

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 15:07:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 11. OF Logan Schafer is starting in center field and batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has flash high-end power upside this season, and he is an intriguing player for keeper/dynasty leagues. Don't rule him out in the majority of leagues this season, though. He has a .586 slugging percentage and five home runs since joining the Brewers. Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is batting .201 with a .300 slugging percentage through 556 plate appearances over the past three years with the Brewers. Aim higher FantasyScore players.

Brewers | Milwaukee re-calls two

The Milwaukee Brewers will re-call OF Logan Schafer and 2B Elian Herrera from Class AAA Colorado Springs Friday, July 31, to fill the roster spots of OF Carlos Gomez and SP Mike Fiers who were traded to the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Schafer hit for a .182 batting average with zero home runs in 40 plate appearances in the major leagues this season, while Herrera hit .212 with four home runs. Neither will deserve much FantasyScore consideration.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett back from DL

Tue, 05 May 2015 11:22:46 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 5, and OF Logan Schafer was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should immediately return to a starting role at second base, and it is another boost to the Brewers' weak-hitting lineup to start the 2015 season. They also got Carlos Gomez back over the weekend. Gennett profiles as a midrange second base option at FantasyScore most days.

Brewers | Gerardo Parra starting in CF

Fri, 01 May 2015 08:58:37 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra is starting in center field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Friday, May 1. OF Logan Schafer is on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is seeing more playing time with Carlos Gomez on the DL, but he hasn't taken advantage of his opportunities, hitting just .222 (12-for-54). Avoid him at FantasyScore against Lester today. Parra hit only .206 (20-for-97) with one of his nine home runs in 2014 against lefties.

Brewers | Logan Schafer starting strong

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 16:27:03 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Logan Schafer started in center field for the fifth time in the last eight games Tuesday, April 28, against the Cincinnati Reds. Schafer continues to fill in for the injured Carlos Gomez (hamstring), who is expected to return from the disabled list at some point this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .353 over the previous week, with three doubles and four runs scored. FantasyScore owners are unlikely to find many better outfield options for the minimum price and can continue starting Schafer whenever the Brewers do.

Brewers | Logan Schafer back in lineup

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 13:06:41 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Logan Schafer is in the starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Schafer ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is receiving his second straight start and did go 2-for-4 in his last game. Schafer is only hitting .190 this season, and owners should be able to find better options to use.
