Fri, 14 Jun 2013 15:52:10 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) appears bound for the disabled list after experiencing more sharp pain in his right hand during batting practice Friday, June 14. It was the first time he had swung in days as he tried to rest what he described as an inflamed nerve between his right thumb and index finger. On one of the first swings he took, he grimaced. "More of the same," Braun said he felt. "It basically has been the same for a while. Everything we have tried to get to the point where I can take a regular swing has not helped. We've tried different wraps on the bat, different padding on the batting gloves. We've basically tried everything we can think of." Fantasy Tip: If they indeed disable him, Logan Schafer would net regular at-bats and could be a desperation deep-mixed option for five-outfielder leagues. He's more suitable for single-universe formats, though. Of course, with Braun's Biogenesis fate potentially coming down this season, Schafer could have more time than expected, though that might be a long shot, and Corey Hart may return next month, as well.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 14:53:17 -0700 Updating an ongoing story, Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) will take regular batting practice Friday, June 14. If it goes well, he may join the lineup tonight. If it goes poorly, the club will discuss a DL move. Fantasy Tip: We could see a decision in the coming days. Stay tuned. If Braun has to miss time, Logan Schafer might sneak into deep-mixed relevance.
Mon, 10 Jun 2013 14:20:07 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) is not in the lineup Monday, June 10, while being replaced by Logan Schafer. He might sit out the entire series against the Miami Marlins, according to manager Ron Roenicke. Braun started feeling the injury to his right hand about a month ago after a swing. His thumb was originally numb for about a week, but he eventually got feeling back in it. However, he said there's an issue with a nerve and ligament in his hand, as well, located between his index finger and thumb. Fantasy Tip: This is looking direr by the day. While nothing can be confirmed, it's looking like an extended absence may be in his future. Start preparing for it, and if any single-year owner wants to take the chance on Braun, who already has Biogenesis hanging over his hand, maybe you should consider shipping him if someone is willing to pay close to his preseason price.
Sun, 09 Jun 2013 11:58:02 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (thumb) was removed from the game against the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday, June 9, due to soreness in his right thumb. Wed, 13 Mar 2013 21:45:09 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin talked to OF Logan Schafer, telling him not to be discouraged despite the fact OF Carlos Gomez signed a three-year contract extension Wednesday, March 13. That means all three outfielders, OF Ryan Braun, Gomez and OF Norichika Aoki are under contract through 2016. "Logan is a really good player. Somewhere along the line, he will get his chance to play every day," Melvin said.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 14:37:37 -0800 Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said OF Logan Schafer is a good bet to make the team's opening day roster as a backup outfielder. He'll most likely serve as the backup center fielder to OF Carlos Gomez as well as adding depth to the corner outfield spots.
Sun, 23 Sep 2012 09:37:46 -0700 Milwaukee Brewers OF Logan Schafer will start in center field against the Washington Nationals Sunday, Sept. 23. OF Carlos Gomez (foot, quadriceps) jammed a quadriceps muscle while running to first base Saturday, Sept. 22, and was seen limping after the game.
