Milwaukee Brewers OF Logan Schafer spent the offseason rebuilding his strength and balance, and he said Tuesday, Feb. 18, that he feels re-energized and ready for spring training. "I spent a lot of time last year trying to figure out what I can do better, what I did OK, what I can improve on," Schafer said. "A lot of that has to do with the mentality and just realizing I'm a damn good ball player and just letting myself be one. That's a big part of it."
Fantasy Tip: Schafer saw an increased role at times last season with Ryan Braun out due to suspension, but this year Schafer is likely to be a fourth outfielder. He is best left to fantasy owners in deeper NL-only leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks was in the leadoff spot Wednesday, July 24, against the San Diego Padres with OF Logan Schafer (rest) getting a day off. Weeks was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke mentioned OFs Logan Schafer, Khris Davis and Caleb Gindl as candidates to take over in left field with OF Ryan Braun lost for the rest of the season. SS Jean Segura will bat in Braun's usual third spot in the order.
Fantasy Tip: Schafer is your best bet if you're looking for some speed in cavernous mixed formats. He'll probably lose some playing time to Gindl and Davis, however, so he may be best suited for NL-only universes.

The Milwaukee Brewers recalled OF Khris Davis from the minors Tuesday, July 23.
Fantasy Tip: Davis takes the roster spot of the suspended Ryan Braun and will serve as outfield depth. Logan Schafer will receive most of the playing time in left field with Braun out for the rest of the season.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun has been suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season without pay for violations of baseball's drug program. Braun has accepted the penalty and will not appeal the suspension. Braun's suspension will take place immediately, meaning he'll be suspended for the final 65 games of the season.
Fantasy Tip: This comes as a huge surprise, as many believed any of the possible suspensions tied to MLB's Biogenesis investigation wouldn't take effect until the 2014 season. Braun is admitting his guilt by passing up the appeals process and cutting a deal with the league. This will be a huge to all of his owners, and you can cut him in all single-year formats.
Logan Schafer will benefit from Braun's suspension the most; he's expected to fill in as the starting left fielder now. Consider adding him in deep mixed leagues, especially if you had Braun on your roster.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Norichika Aoki (elbow) was scratched from the lineup with left elbow tightness Tuesday, July 9. OF Logan Schafer is playing right field.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) appears bound for the disabled list after experiencing more sharp pain in his right hand during batting practice Friday, June 14. It was the first time he had swung in days as he tried to rest what he described as an inflamed nerve between his right thumb and index finger. On one of the first swings he took, he grimaced. "More of the same," Braun said he felt. "It basically has been the same for a while. Everything we have tried to get to the point where I can take a regular swing has not helped. We've tried different wraps on the bat, different padding on the batting gloves. We've basically tried everything we can think of."
Fantasy Tip: If they indeed disable him, Logan Schafer would net regular at-bats and could be a desperation deep-mixed option for five-outfielder leagues. He's more suitable for single-universe formats, though. Of course, with Braun's Biogenesis fate potentially coming down this season, Schafer could have more time than expected, though that might be a long shot, and Corey Hart may return next month, as well.

Updating an ongoing story, Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) will take regular batting practice Friday, June 14. If it goes well, he may join the lineup tonight. If it goes poorly, the club will discuss a DL move.
Fantasy Tip: We could see a decision in the coming days. Stay tuned. If Braun has to miss time, Logan Schafer might sneak into deep-mixed relevance.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (hand) is not in the lineup Monday, June 10, while being replaced by Logan Schafer. He might sit out the entire series against the Miami Marlins, according to manager Ron Roenicke. Braun started feeling the injury to his right hand about a month ago after a swing. His thumb was originally numb for about a week, but he eventually got feeling back in it. However, he said there's an issue with a nerve and ligament in his hand, as well, located between his index finger and thumb.
The training staff hasn't been able to help curb the issue, but taking time off has helped. "We've tried all kinds of different treatments, then we tried different stuff in the batting glove and on the bat to try and relieve some of the pain," Braun said. He hasn't been able to drive the ball as effectively since the injury, despite tinkering with his swing and bat path. The team isn't ruling out a disabled list stay.
Fantasy Tip: This is looking direr by the day. While nothing can be confirmed, it's looking like an extended absence may be in his future. Start preparing for it, and if any single-year owner wants to take the chance on Braun, who already has Biogenesis hanging over his hand, maybe you should consider shipping him if someone is willing to pay close to his preseason price.
