Braves | Tyler Flowers gets the day off

Sun, 29 May 2016 12:21:48 -0700

Atlanta Braves C Tyler Flowers is not in the lineup on Sunday, May 29, against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler. C A.J. Pierzynski will draw his first start in four days behind the plate and bat sixth. INF Chase d'Arnaud will see his first action of the year at shortstop - the third different Atlanta player to start there in as many days - and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flowers has been one of the few bright spots on a dreadful Atlanta team this season, although he is only a consideration for those owners in NL-only or two-catcher formats. The 29-year-old d'Arnaud should start seeing more playing time with Erick Aybar on the disabled list and is batting .356, but he has yet to hit a home run or drive in a run in 45 at-bats.

Braves | Several ATL regulars sitting out Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 10:16:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Ender Inciarte, SS Erick Aybar and INF Chase d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Saturday, May 28. OF Mallex Smith will bat leadoff and play center field, 3B Adonis Garcia will bat seventh and play the hot corner and INF Daniel Castro will bat eighth and play shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is batting .288 with two doubles, two triples, three home runs and eight RBI in 66 at-bats this month and makes a decent outfield option in NL-only and deep mixed leagues because of his speed. Garcia and Castro are batting a combined .180 (11-for-61) with two RBI this month and should be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Braves | Gordon Beckham, Kelly Johnson sitting

Wed, 25 May 2016 12:52:46 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2Bs Gordon Beckham and Kelly Johnson are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at the hot corner and is hitting second, while 2B Reid Brignac is starting at second and batting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Junior Guerra.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud and Brignac should be very low on your potential list of lineup selections in daily setups. D'Arnaud has a little more luster as a deep sleeper because of his position in the lineup, but you can surely find better options on a day with a full slate of games.

Braves | Kelly Johnson, Erick Aybar out

Sun, 22 May 2016 09:47:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson and SS Erick Aybar are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Sunday, May 22. 3B Gordon Beckham will start at second base, while SS Chase d'Arnaud will start at third base and is batting second. 2B Daniel Castro will start at shortstop and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Castro has been pretty quiet over the past week, while d'Arnaud has posted a .474 batting average during the same span. Owners probably can pass on Castro in most leagues, but d'Arnaud can be a sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues.

Braves | Several ATL regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:00:30 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson, C A.J. Pierzynski, OF Mallex Smith are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Saturday, May 21. INF Chase d'Arnaud will bat leadoff and play third base, INF Gordon Beckham will bat second and play second base, OF Jeff Francoeur will play left field and bat cleanup, C Tyler Flowers will start behind the plate and bat sixth and OF Ender Inciarte will bat seventh and play center field.

Fantasy Tip: The Braves are facing a left-handed pitcher this afternoon, which explains why several of their left-handed-hitting position players are on the bench. Beckham and d'Arnaud are a combined 30-for-86 (.349) this season and should be viewed as productive sources of salary cap relief in DFS.

Braves | Ender Inciarte takes a seat

Thu, 19 May 2016 12:21:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Ender Inciarte is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP Jeff Locke Thursday, May 19. OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in left field and is hitting cleanup, while SS Chase d'Arnaud is at third base and moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud is a desperation DFS flyer despite the nice lineup positioning. Francoeur doesn't have much upside left in his lumber, but he's hitting well against lefties (.279 with his lone home run), and he could be a successful value pick as a deep sleeper tonight.

Braves | No Gordon Beckham Wednesday

Wed, 18 May 2016 12:28:06 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Gordon Beckham is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at the hot corner and is batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano. SS Erick Aybar is starting at second base and hitting sixth, while SS Daniel Castro is at shortstop and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: None of the Braves infielders tonight aside from Freddie Freeman have much upside at all at the plate, so you should look in another direction.

Braves | Chase d'Arnaud starting vs. Pittsburgh

Mon, 16 May 2016 12:59:07 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at third base and batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jon Niese Monday, May 16. 3B Gordon Beckham is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has gone 6-for-19 to start the season, but he has just a single run to show for it. He is nothing more than a low-priced flier in daily contests Monday. Beckham started six straight games since returning from a hamstring injury, and he has also gone 6-for-16 with two runs and three RBI during the stretch. Beckham is a viable NL-only own.

Braves | Atlanta resting three players

Sun, 15 May 2016 10:23:59 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson, C A.J. Pierzynski and SS Erick Aybar are not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Sunday, May 15. C Tyler Flowers will start at catcher and is batting fourth. SS Chase d'Arnaud will start at second base and is batting seventh, while 2B Daniel Castro will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Flowers is hitting .273 over the last seven days and should be considered in two-catcher leagues. Castro and d'Arnaud have received limited playing time over the past few weeks and are not a great option for owners.

Braves | Atlanta resting four starters

Sun, 08 May 2016 09:42:37 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Kelly Johnson, C A.J. Pierzynski, 2B Reid Brignac and OF Mallex Smith are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin Sunday, May 8. C Tyler Flowers will start at catcher and is batting fourth in the lineup. OF Jeff Francoeur will start in left field and is batting fifth. SS Chase d'Arnaud will start at second base and is batting seventh, while 2B Daniel Castro will start at this base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: None of the players in the starting lineup has posted great numbers this season. Francoeur is hitting .370 with three RBI against left-handed pitchers and could be a desperation option for owners in daily fantasy leagues, but the other three players can be avoided.
