Angels | Rich Hill acquired

Tue, 01 Jul 2014 11:25:33 -0700

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired RP Rich Hill from the Boston Red Sox Tuesday, July 1. In a corresponding move, RP Michael Kohn was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. It's unknown what the Red Sox received in return.

Fantasy Tip: The Halos are hoping that Hill can fill the role of the lefty specialist in their bullpen. You can ignore him in all fantasy formats.

Angels | Cam Bedrosian up, Michael Kohn down

Tue, 03 Jun 2014 14:04:58 -0700

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have called up RP Cam Bedrosian from Double-A Arkansas and optioned RP Michael Kohn.

Fantasy Tip: No word yet on where Kohn is going, but it's presumably Triple-A Salt Lake. Bedrosian is a closer type who's a long-term fantasy watch candidate. He could probably help in AL-only leagues immediately thanks to his big K potential.

Angels | Searching for reliable back-end guy

Mon, 21 Apr 2014 20:49:21 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia is still searching for a consistent third reliever who can join RPs Joe Smith and Ernesto Frieri in closing out games efficiently. "It puts a lot of pressure on Joe Smith and Frieri to be really the only two guys who are throwing the ball at a level to shut games down. Whether it's Michael Kohn or Fernando Salas, some of these guys has to move deeper into the game, or we're going to have trouble finding that continuity."

Angels | Bullpen pecking order established

Mon, 31 Mar 2014 19:26:28 -0700

While it could be subject to change, the bullpen pecking order for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim appears to be RP Ernesto Frieri as closer, with RPs Fernando Salas and Joe Smith in a setup role. RPs Kevin Jepsen, Michael Kohn and Nick Maronde will work in the middle innings.

Angels | Ernesto Frieri loses closer job for now

Sat, 10 Aug 2013 18:10:02 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Ernesto Frieri has temporarily lost his closer job and will be used in low-pressure situations for now.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Dane De La Rosa will get the first chance to close games out, but Kevin Jepsen and Michael Kohn could also receive opportunities. De La Rosa should be an option for mixed league owners looking for saves. Jepsen and Kohn should be targeted in AL-only leagues and some mixed leagues if an owner is desperate, but they may not be good pickups because Frieri could regain the job at some point.

Angels | Alberto Callaspo to DL

Fri, 19 Apr 2013 15:24:05 -0700

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed 3B Alberto Callaspo (calf) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, April 19, and recalled P Michael Kohn from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Callaspo hadn't been improving enough to warrant keeping him on the roster. Luis Jimenez has been filling in at the hot corner nicely and should now be added in AL leagues.
