The Kansas City Royals placed 2B Chris Getz (rib cage) on the 15-day disabled list with a left rib cage injury Tuesday, May 22, and recalled P Will Smith from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. Smith was 1-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 51 2/3 innings with Omaha. RP Blake Wood (elbow) was also moved to the 60-day DL.

The Kansas City Royals assigned Ps Ryan Verdugo, Noel Arguelles, Jake Odorizzi, Chris Dwyer, Mike Montgomery, Brandon Sisk and Will Smith, C Julio Rodriguez and OFs Wil Myers and Paulo Orlando to minor league camp Thursday, March 15.

Kansas City Royals SP Will Smith and RP Kelvin Herrera combined for a no-hitter Tuesday, July 19, for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The two pitchers worked against Double-A Arkansas, an affiliate in their former organization, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Herrera and Smith were dealt to the Royals for 3B Alberto Callaspo July 22, 2010.

The Kansas City Royals have optioned Ps Kevin Pucetas and Everett Teaford to Triple-A Omaha, according to MLB.com's Dick Kaegel. Ps Chris Dwyer, John Lamb, Steven Shell and Will Smith have been reassigned to minor league camp.
