Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss is considering several options to fill the vacant leadoff spot, including OF Carlos Gonzalez. OFs Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson are also considered top candidates for the top spot in the order. 2B DJ LeMahieu, 2B Josh Rutledge, OF Brandon Barnes and OF Charlie Culberson are also others who could earn leadoff opportunities. Weiss said Friday, Dec. 6, that he is not ruling out other options.
Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez moving to the leadoff spot would mean a dip in his RBI numbers, but also an increase in his runs scored, and perhaps stolen base totals. Either way, he will be a stud fantasy option again in 2014.

Colorado Rockies OFs Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson are expected to see more at-bats following the trade of OF Dexter Fowler to the Houston Astros. Both are also candidates to fill the vacant leadoff spot.
Fantasy Tip: Blackmon and Dickerson are must-starts in NL-only fantasy formats, and some mixed leagues as well, if they can secure regular at-bats.

Colorado Rockies OF Dexter Fowler (knee) will undergo an MRI on his ailing left knee.
Fantasy Tip: Luckily, Carlos Gonzalez (finger) could be back within the next few days if Fowler must miss an extensive period. We'll let you know more as we find out. Charlie Blackmon remains the best interim play out of the group of part-timers that also includes Corey Dickerson and Charlie Culberson.

The Colorado Rockies recalled OF Charlie Blackmon from the minors Monday, July 8. Blackmon could start Monday with OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) nursing an injury.

Colorado Rockies OF Dexter Fowler (hand) will undergo an MRI exam on his right hand Thursday, June 27. OF Carlos Gonzalez will remain in left field to keep him healthy, and the team could recall OF Charlie Blackmon from the minors if Fowler is out any longer. Blackmon can play all three outfield positions and is hitting .269 at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Fantasy Tip: Tyler Colvin is ice cold right now and Corey Dickerson isn't able to play center field, hence the need for Blackmon if Fowler needs an extended absence. If that happens, scoop Blackmon up in NL-only leagues. He probably won't be around long enough to warrant consideration in mixed leagues, though.

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies OF Dexter Fowler (finger) isn't expected to land on the disabled list after X-rays on his right ring finger came back negative. He's hoping to play Friday, June 21. OF Corey Dickerson will be used as outfield depth, and he cannot play center field. OF Charlie Blackmon is more versatile, but Dickerson was swinging the bat much better down on the farm.
Fantasy Tip: This tempers the excitement for Dickerson in deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats, although he could see some time in the short-term with Fowler ailing and Tyler Colvin slumping.

The Colorado Rockies recalled P Rob Scahill from the minors Wednesday, May 29, and optioned OF Charlie Blackmon to Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move.

The Colorado Rockies activated OF Michael Cuddyer (neck) from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 24.
Fantasy Tip: Cuddyer's return will push Eric Young Jr. and Charlie Blackmon to reserve outfield duty, but Young could see semi-regular playing time alongside Dexter Fowler in center field. Young is still useful in cavernous mixed formats and NL leagues thanks to his stolen base contributions.

Colorado Rockies OF Michael Cuddyer's (neck) MRI exam showed an inflamed cervical disc in his neck, but there was no other damage found in his neck. He received an epidural injection to relieve pain in his neck, and he's expected to resume light baseball activities this week. OF Charlie Blackmon will be in the lineup for the second straight night Monday, May 13. The team is optimistic that Cuddyer can return after a short rehab assignment. He's eligible to come off the disabled list May 23.
Fantasy Tip: Blackmon is worth a look in deep mixed formats in the short term while he's playing, but Eric Young Jr. has better skills (mainly speed) to warrant a pickup in those leagues.

Colorado Rockies OF Michael Cuddyer's (neck) MRI exam showed no new issues with his neck, and he'll receive an epidural injection.
Fantasy Tip: Charlie Blackmon was called up Sunday, and he received the start. Eric Young Jr. should see increased playing time as well, and the two could form some sort of platoon with Cuddyer out. Young, if he plays often enough, could be a big boost for mixed league owners looking for some speed.
